I was one of the ones who went into shipping mode after seeing this:
But let's be honest: This was sadly an early example of how badly Rebecca screwed up Spinel's character.
There was so much there with Spinel. So much could have been done OTHER than what they ended up doing with her.
There was so much there as far as a dynamic between her and Steven due to them being pretty much the same character. They had so much in common to where so much could be done with their bond/relationship, especially after the events of the SU Movie.
And I stick by this: Spinel should have been the one who helped Steven with what he was going through. She should have played a far larger and better role than she was given in SUF.
But nope! It was Connie. IT ALWAYS HAS TO BE CONNIE. And what happened with Spinel?
Rebecca turned her into a Gem Pothead who was doing nothing but goofing around when Steven asked her for help....
Spinel is the perfect example of how Rebecca Sugar makes these great characters only to ruin them.
