"Where are we going?" I asked Elijah as he takes hold of my hand, leading me through the park. He said nothing, and I roll my eyes but keep quiet. After a few minutes, I decide to ask him one more question. "How did you get here? And how did you know where I'd be?"

"I'm the king, darling. I can find you whenever I want," Elijah comments, pushing his brow locks from his face. "And we're going to the palace."

"What?!" I whisper-yelled into the dark night.

"I will not repeat myself," he mumbled, not sparing me a glance.

I scoff but let him drag me with him. I spot a black Lamborghini that looks brand new at the roadside. He opens the door for me, and I get in while he also hops in the driver's seat, turning on the car right away, speeding out as he drives like a madman.

I hold on to the seatbelt for dear life, and my eyes open as he continues speeding around the fairly traffic.

"For fuck's sake, slow down!" I yelled at him, my cheeks going red.

Goddess, I do not wish to die like this, and why the hell is he acting like an asshole?

About thirty minutes later, we got to a very silent neighborhood that is surrounded by tall, thick trees. I look over to Elijah with a confused face, a little bit skeptical.

"What are we doing here? I thought you said we were going to the palace," I ask him.

He looks at me with a raised brow, his eyes shining with amusement.

"You do not expect me to drive fourteen hours to the palace, now do you?" He replied, then sighs.

"In every state and country, there is a portal that leads to the palace, and only the royal families know about it," he added, driving through the untiled dark road in the forest.

He stopped when we are further away from the buildings that we passed, then we got out. He leads us to a very big tree and stands next to it. I fold my arms and look at him, curious about what he was going to do.

He places his hand on the tree and chants some words that sound ancient. The air becomes chilly, and a breeze blows around the tree, I and Elijah as he kept on chanting, then the tree had a tiny bright light in the middle of it, shining. It kept on becoming bigger and bigger until it is big enough for us to fit in.

"Wow," I gasped, taking my hair that was stuck in my mouth and look at Elijah who is already staring at me with a proud smile on his face. He stretched his hand towards me, and I take it, then he draws me closer to him and wraps his big hands around me and whispers in my ear.

"Hold on tight."

We fall through the light, and I close my eyes and hold on to him tightly. There's a whooshing sound around us, It was like we were falling through a never-ending black hole.

The noise stops, but I clutch on to Elijah tightly. "You can let go now, darling," he said.

I cleared my throat and let go of him, adjusting my blue T-shirt that had wrinkles from the fall. I see that we are in some sort of study room.

"Follow me," Elijah said, leading me out of the room. We walk through corridors passing through different rooms. I see a room that the door is slightly ajar; I take a quick peek seeing rolls of chairs. It looks somewhat like a dining table but wasn't. It has a very big chair at the head, which I'm guessing belongs to the king, and smaller ones facing each other.

"That's the meeting room," the king comments, now taking my hand in his. We walk until we got to the king's wing. I know that because it was literally written there.

We stop in front of a door, and he brings out a key, unlocking the door. The room is beautiful, the wall is a cream color with black straight lines. The floor is covered with a soft-looking rug. Oh, how I'd love to rub my bare feet on them.

"We need to talk," Elijah muttered, drawing my attention back to him. I nod and take a seat on one of the posh chairs, and so does he.

"I want you to be my mate, Celeste," he spoke.

"Why?" I asked, really wanting to know what he sees in me. A she-wolf who was rejected by her own mate.

"Because you're different," He says. I am confused... What makes me different from the other she-wolves? I am just a girl with a broken heart and a mate who rejected her.

"I do not understand, Elijah. What makes me different?"

"Because you can fix me, you can be my mate once again," he said as he gets on his feet and stands by the window, looking at the snowflakes falling from the sky.

Once again, What does he mean?

"Elij-" "I know you are confused, Celeste," he cuts me off. "But you will understand in time."

I decide not to say anything and just nod my head, even though he can't see me. He sighs then turns towards me and gives a smile. "I will have one of the maids bring you dinner, you must be hungry," he said.

"Oh no, I already had dinner, do not worry but thanks anyway."

"If you say so," he muttered with a nod then comes closer to me and places a gentle kiss on my head. "See you tomorrow, Celeste."

I watch his retreating figure walk out the door, and once he was out and the door was closed, I let out a breath. I stretch my body and jump on the massive bed and let out a sigh of contentment. As soft as the bed was, I couldn't sleep. My mind keeps racing with thoughts of what was to come with my life, what does this mean for me, and what did the King mean by his mate once again?

It is known across the world that his mate was dead over seven years ago. The King could have meant his mate again as in a second chance mate.. Right? We are two broken souls, and we need each other. Shaking my head at that thought, I looked up to the ceiling, praying to the moon goddess to give me strength.

I decide to go out for a stroll as I couldn't sleep. I pass through many halls, beautiful paintings. It seems like I lost track of time... And my way.

I look around the different halls, wondering which way I came through. I pick the hall on the left, hoping it would lead me back to my wing. I walk past different closed doors, but stop when I see a shadow of someone through the slightly opened door.

I stand next to the wall, hiding my body and using my left eye to take a peek in the room. The room, filled with beautiful red roses just like the one drawn on the floor of the throne room, and in the middle was a tombstone. I can't see the name written on it because the person standing next to the tomb.

I hear whispering then the person laughs but he is the only one in the room. I gasp when the unknown or rather known person turns his head.

"Who's there?" Elijah's voice echoes through the room and in the

hall. My eyes widen, and I run as fast as I can, this time through the right hall. Relief floods through me as I see the king's wing. I open my door and close it with much force that it made a loud bang, and I cringe. I climb on the bed and cover myself with the blanket. I try calming my heartbeat as it was racing so fast.

The door to my room opens slightly, and I close my eyes tightly. After a few seconds, he closes the door, and I release a breath I didn't even realize I was holding.

As I become sleepy, my mind is filled with two thoughts. Who the hell was Elijah whispering and laughing with, and how the hell did those roses stay fresh in such a room?
