ONCE PERCY CAME out from the attic, Chiron was immediately ready to start going through his whole question list he probably made in the two years no one went up that attic. It seemed like he was actually exited for this, while I had bitten most of my nails short of the nervous atmosphere that was surrounding me. I had so many questions roaming through my head. Like why the hell do I have to go along this quest. Why can't I be normal for like just one day. Why does the world hate me- no, no, let me rephrase that. Why do the gods hate me- also no, I already know the answer.

"Well?" Chiron asked the boy. Percy slumped into a chair at the pinochle table. "She said I would retrieve what was stolen." He answered, and I wondered who the oracle is -what she looks like, -and how she'd talked. I mean I've heard loads of stories.

Grover sat forward, chewing excitedly on the remains of a Diet Coke can. "That's great!" He said happily. "What did the Oracle say exactly?" Chiron pressed. "This is important." He added.

"She . . . She said I would go west and face a god who had turned. I would retrieve what was stolen and see it safely returned." Percy explained. "I knew it." Grover said. But Chiron didn't look satisfied. "Anything else?" He asked. "No." Percy said. "That's about it." Percy said, but to be honest, he wasn't a good liar, I could see right through him.
