"What the hell was that?" Grayson asked, slipping out of one of the vet rings to join me in the back room.

"I- I don't know." I replied honestly, still holding the ice pack in hand. "I was trying to get this to him. He bolted out of here without grabbing it." My hands squished the room temperature cool pack between my fingers as I turned to face Grayson.

"That was the same kid from last night right? Looks like he was bringing us lunch." Grayson noted. "What the hell did you do to scare him off that quick?"

I threw my hands up in defeat. "It honestly beats me. I just told him I could give him some pointers on defense. Harmless stuff I swear. Just trying to help." I replied. Grayson gave me a look that said he wasn't buying it.

But with Grayson, this look was pretty much always present on his face.

"You know you do tend to make terrible choices with words. I'm sure something got lost in translation." He replied. I was quick to come to my own defense.

"I know, but I'm serious this time! I don't think I said anything disrespectful."

Grayson sighed at my words. "Well we'll know for sure depending on whether Kassie decides to come kill us or not. She really likes that kid, man. Plus you know how long they've been short staffed for."

My fingers pushed back the strands of hair that had slipped through the hair bun. This whole situation was just bizarre.

I sighed heavily, allowing my back to rest against the hard porcelain water reservoir of the toilet

I sighed heavily, allowing my back to rest against the hard porcelain water reservoir of the toilet.

Why was I so fucked up? I thought to myself.

Why was everything so fucking triggering?

My hand grabbed at the stall railing, as I took another deep breath. The words fight back amplified through me. I felt the memories surface like an air filled rubber duck that's been held beneath water, then suddenly released.
