Alaska Sayre was tired of Tom Riddle's bullshit. She was sitting in the Slytherin common room trying not to puke as he made wildly inaccurate statements about blood status.

She had been having a perfectly fine game of wizard's chess against her friend Valentine (they bonded over weird names) and he just decided to ruin it.

"Muggles cannot perform magic, and it is my belief that when the muggle influence becomes too strong in a bloodline, a squib is produced." Said Tom, swaying a small group of Slytherins to his ideals, "The only way to maintain a healthy magical population is ensure that wizards only marry pure blooded witches,"

"Knight to Tom Riddle's stupid face." Said Alaska, and Valentine giggled,

"I think he's cute." She said,

"The ultimate looks aren't everything example," said Alaska, glaring at the back of his head, and then she had an idea,

Alaska duplicated the knight piece and sent it flying at Tom Riddle's head. All the while her back was turned.

"Something to add, Sayre?" Said a very annoyed Tom Riddle,

"Hmm?" She hummed, "I'm trying to win a chess match, I would appreciate it if I wasn't interrupted."

"You threw a piece at me." He said, and she quickly vanished the chess piece that lay at his feet,

"But we have all our pieces, Riddle," said Valentine, gesturing to their full chess board,

"Maybe it's your conscience acting up." Said Alaska, nodding, "You know, for spreading hateful lies and slander about a whole group of people who did nothing to deserve it."

Alaska's older sister Mai walked down the steps to the common room, and she tried to turn around because she was a pacifist,

"Sayre, control your little sister." Said Tom,

"Couldn't if I tried, Riddle." Said Mai, accepting her role as mediator and walking behind her sister, "Hey Val, oh no, she's got you."

"Check mate." Said Alaska and Valentine groaned in defeat,

Alaska was a year behind Tom Riddle, Mai was in his year,

"What did you do to piss off Riddle?" Asked Mai and Alaska shrugged,

"He's so easily set off." She sighed, "Maybe I spat on him, maybe his hair just isn't falling right today. Either way he's mad at me."

"You threw a chess piece at me." Said Tom, the small group of Slytherins now dispersed, Alaska shrugged,

"I didn't see anything." Said Valentine, "She has an alibi."

"Unless there is a witness for the prosecution, I do believe the court finds me innocent." Said Alaska, She smiled sweetly at Tom,

The sort of sickly sweet that only she could muster and he rolled his eyes in disgust.

"Just stay out of my business, Sayre," said Tom,

"But What Have I done to offend you?" Asked Mai, and he closed his eyes for a moment in annoyance, as though trying not to brutally maim anyone in his immediate vicinity,
