twenty six.ㅤ
ㅤafter a week and a half in korea, i had returned to china. i was looking forward to it, to tell the truth. however, as much as i wanted to see the boys, i was so tired and i got there so late that i just laid down on the bed to sleep.ㅤi woke up the next day. i took a shower and got ready to go downstairs for breakfast. i put on an oversized black sweatshirt, as usual, and skinny jeans, as well as black sneakers. i left my hair down, since it wasn't as long as it used to be and i couldn't wear buns or long ponytails. i was too lazy to put on my contact lenses so i just put on my glasses. i didn't take too much time to get ready either, since i was just going downstairs for breakfast.
ㅤi was aware that cheng xiao had not yet arrived, so i had not called her to come down together. i was about to open the door to the room to go out into the hallway when i heard someone knock on it.
ㅤi opened it and found myself face to face with jieqiong.
ㅤi didn't even think twice about it and jumped on her to hug her. "jieqiong!" i exclaimed, right next to her ear.
ㅤ"you'll make me deaf" she said laughing. she put her arms around my back and hugged me even harder. we hadn't seen each other for a long time. "i'm so glad to see you"
ㅤ"me too" i said, smiling, even though she couldn't see my face. "are you one hundred percent recovered?"
ㅤ"two hundred percent" she replied cheerfully, as we unhugged.
ㅤ"i missed you a lot" i confessed her. "you don't know how hard it has been to control a hundred guys" i joked later and she started to laugh.
ㅤ"you surely have done better than i would"
ㅤ"no, no!" i hastened to say. "impossible" i said shaking my head while denying it multiple times and she laughed again shyly.
ㅤ"i'm glad to know that now we can be mentors together" jieqiong said with a smile on her face, which made me smile too. we hadn't spent that much time together since produce 101 and the truth was that it all reminded me much more of the past now that i was with jieqiong. however, it was touching to see how we had gone from being trainees to mentors. "when i was talking to the staff to set a date for my return to the show, i suggested that they let you stay" she said.
ㅤ"really?!" i exclaimed, surprised by her words. i would never have imagined she would suggest that. "why did you do that?"
ㅤ"i've been watching the previous episodes and you're really good at mentoring. plus, you and cheng xiao made an amazing team and i wanted to work with both of you together"
ㅤ"thank you very much, jieqiong" I replied. "but know that the team wasn't complete without you" i added, winking. "now we'll be the triplet killers"
ㅤboth of us started laughing. what i had said was true. at first I saw myself as a replacement for jieqiong and could only feel guilty about it. however, one day cheng xiao told me to see myself as a special guest until jieqiong recovered and those words helped me to feel better. now that jieqiong was back, knowing that we could be all three together made me very happy.
ㅤ"were you going down to have breakfast?" she asked me.
ㅤ"i was, actually. shall we go together?"
ㅤ"of course. it'll be a great opportunity to catch up" she replied, still smiling.
ㅤwe both came down to have breakfast together and talked about everything that was going on in our lives. we also remembered moments we had spent together a long time ago and it reminded me how much i loved and appreciated jieqiong. i regretted very much having lost contact with her and was grateful for this new opportunity to strengthen our friendship again. after breakfast, jieqiong had to leave to talk to the staff about personal matters, so i was left alone. they still hadn't told us the plan for the week or the classes we would have with the trainees, so there wasn't much i could do.
