CAMILLE

“Ye man of little faith,” I quoted the scripture to Greg. Goddammit I sure did love it when I could go all berserk on him, yes even when he was on different time zones away from me. I had an unusual sense of humor in troublesome times, it got me going and today I was not about to let my strong confidence go away with the worry that Greg required me to have.

“Camille Collins this is not a joking matter nor do I understand why this information is good news.” He sounded pissed and angry but I quickly ignored it. This was great news to us, if my father did not know the whereabouts of my mother that meant that we were one step ahead of him concerning my mother. I could totally mess up with him.

“I see your logic Cami, this means Marion and Jacob are doing a perfect job in keeping mom safe from any unnecessary publicity. The hospital staff might have been terrorized for life.” He managed to crack a joke. I had paid a huge amount to keep the hospital staff silent on the matter and I appreciated my partners’ good job of enforcing my wishes. I couldn’t ask for any other business colleagues.

As long as Timothy didn’t know the location of my mother and Greg having the list of suspects narrowed down from over four hundred people to twenty people, my father was playing himself. I knew he had got desperate and acted recklessly when he contacted Greg, a mistake that I would ensure he would pay dearly for it. Getting me a step closer to Martinez and to his empire was my main objective after I finished the meeting.

I had already given my hosts a bad impression of having none ending phone call with Greg. But all that mattered is that I was not late, I was thirty minutes early for the meeting which gave me approximately ten minutes to get to the boardroom as I had spent twenty minutes with Greg.

The meeting went well I got all the information that I needed, it was a viable business that’s all that mattered to me. I had nothing else to do in Scotland, but I chose to spend the next day there, I was not trying to kill myself with jet lag. However, one thing kept me mysteriously disturbed. It was probably nothing, but whenever I got any suspicion I would definitely check it out. Kane was pestering my mind nonstop something didn’t feel right.

I had to get to the bottom of this, He would always be present for all the grapes delivery but these days he never bothered to show up. His workers would say he was busy with other attachments. What was the old good Kane up to? What attachments would be that important to keep him away for two months? Something wasn’t right. God I hated my hunches.

TIMOTHY O’BRIAN

The days were slow, painful, and nerve wrecking with every minute passing. Losing control has never been his style. Why couldn’t the universe just align this once in his favor? He thought to himself as he poured another glass of Beluga Noble, he wasn’t sure what would kill him first all the liquor he drank daily or his daughter. Guess he would put his money on the vodka coz as far he was concerned his daughter was taking the high road. Nobody died from being the bigger person but money was always lost when one decided to be a wuss.

Beatrix was playing mental games on him. He hated it and Martinez had gone silent. Was she caught? He had to definitely call the man to sort his issues. He was at the end of the road. Picking up the phone and dialing the man’s number. Patiently listening to the caller connection code, four rings the man really took his sweet time to pick up his phone. Fifth ring, Timothy almost giving up; a rich baritone voice fill his ears. “Took you long enough to call me, I thought you died.” He hated his sarcasm, how could he afford to mess with me yet they screwed up not necessarily them but him but it didn’t matter if he wanted his help, he had to take in all the sarcasm and all what the help came with.

“I am sorry I have been busy with other important issues that have been stressing me up.” Timothy said trying to sound as courageous as he could. “Do this important issues you claim to sort include the disappearance of Madison perhaps?” taken aback with what the man had just told him he could keep his composure anymore

“How do you know that Madison is missing? Are you keeping tabs on me? This was not our agreement when you came to me three months ago. What are you after? My business? My reputation? Don’t think I have any of that left, who sent you? Did Beatrix send you to ruin me you crazy son of a bitch? I’ll destroy you before you think of making a move against you. I promise you won’t get the last laugh in this.” Timothy said vehemently, looking like an injured wild dog he was sure his daughter had found a way to get him while he was thinking she was taking it slow on him.

“Well Timothy, you sound paranoid actually you are paranoid. Might want to get that paranoia in check before you think of doing anything. I didn’t know Madison was missing till you told me. I just presumed that, because I have not heard any news, in case you didn’t know I’m very aware of what’s happening around me I am sorry if I looked like a cave man to you and then again if the reports of her death are not on the news I don’t take you as the kind that runs back to the crime scene to try mend your wrongs. And look mister, you don’t have to trust me but one thing that you should know is that we are on the same page and we both want the same thing. I got your back, even if our motives are different we got the same goal.”

“You say we want the same thing but I can’t stop thinking why, I don’t know your motives against Beatrix and the story behind your great hatred towards her. I believe if we have to go any further with this pact we have, it is time to come clean. I need a clear mind to deal with our pact and my daughter.” He had set his foot down trying to get some control of the deal they made three months ago. “It is time I get to know your story and who you really are.”
