Chapter 8

"Aren't we going to enter the port sir?" Kang Gook asked as he saw that the flagship stopped a few miles away from the shore while the other ships were going to the island. The captain looked at the secretary but before he could answer, the admiral who was just next to him stopped him and said:

"No, the troops are going to land now, at night, they will control the port and the city so that his highness can land safely tomorrow morning" 

"Should I inform the prince?" Kang Gook asked

"You don't have to worry about it secretary, the prince is already aware of the orders of the royal navy. It's pretty late too, I'm sure that he's already sleeping at the moment. We will call you tomorrow so that you can wake him up. You should go to sleep now, it will be a great day tomorrow" the captain replied. 

Kang Goo went to his bed and fell asleep a few minutes later. The following day a sailor came closer to him, he tried to wake him up by calling him but he just whined so he shook him a little

"Oh... goodmorning..." 

"Goodmorning secretary Kang Gook, the captain ordered me to tell you that you have to wake his highness up in an hour, may I suggest you getting dressed and coe upstairs so you can get some fresh air?" the sailor said, Kang Gook nodded and went to the upper deck after a few minutes. 

Some sailors were chatting while the servants of Tae Joo were preparing his breakfast, Kang Gook was next to the railing when he saw a boat coming closer to the flagship

"What's that?" Kang Gook said

The officers ran afraid of an attack, the archers were ready to shoot when a guy on the boat stood up and shouted:

"I'm the province's governor! Don't shoot!" the guys shouted, how could a young guy like that be a governor was a mistery for Kang Gook but he didnt pay too much attention and waited until he was on board

"I'm the governor of this province sir, Cho Sae Joon, I came here as I was informed about the prince's arrival, may I talk to him?" Sae Joon asked

"of course sir, but I'm afraid that you have to wait, he's still sleeping, I'm going to wake him up but it will take several minutes, the servants will be glad to offer you something for your waiting sir" Kang Gook said

"Thank you, I will wait here then, may I have something to drink please?" the governor said as he sat down. 

Kang Gook went downstairs since the hour was over, he went to the prince's sleeping quarters 

"Goodmorning your highness" 

"Huh... g... goodmorning Kang Gook... is Ji Tae already awake?" Tae Joo said as he rubbed his eyes

"I'm not sure your highness, but I suppose that he's still asleep, I didn't see him anywhere" Kang Gook replied

"Do you want me to wake him up?" Kang Gook added

"No, I will wake him up personally, call the servants and tell them that I'm going to have breakfast on the upper deck... I really need some air..." Tae Joo said as he walked to Ji Tae's cabin with just his nightgown on, Kang Gook followed him 

"Of course your highness, but I have to inform you that the governor of the island is on the ship, he arrived this morning... your highness?" Kang Gook said as he noticed that the prince wasn't responding anymore.

The prince was standing in front of the opened door of Ji Tae's cabin, his eyes were wide

"What's wrong your high..." Kang Gook said, he stopped immediately as he saw Ji Tae's corpse on the bed covered in blood. He immediately covered the prince's eyes and took him back to his cabin

"Your highness, you have to wait here, I'll be back in a moment." 

"Don't leave..." 

"I have to call the guards your highness." Kang Gook replied calmly, he was sure that the prince was safe there since Ji Tae's death looked much more like a suicide than like a murder, his wrists were cut and the expression on his face was pretty calm as well. 

"he... he... dead... he..." 

"I suppose that the meeting with the governor will wait..." Kang Gook said as he managed to leave the room, some tears fell from his eyes but he rapidly wiped them and went upstairs

"Guards... a nobleman is dead... I'm really sorry governor but your meeting with his highness has to wait, he's too shocked to talk about anything sir" Kang Gook said, two guards went downstairs while Sae Joon sighed

"I understand... do you think that I should wait here or is it better for me to go back?" Sae Joon asked

"I actually don't know sir, the choice is up to you" Kang Gook replied

"I'll wait here then... if the people see me coming back without a proper meeting they will probably think that the prince is too arrogant to meet a simple governor... after the previous riots... it will just be a matter of time before... I don't even want to think about it" 

"I... really appreciate... your... your loyalty..." Tae Joo said as he reached the upper deck.
