Chapter 11

Cole's POV

"A pawn shop? What the heck are we doing at a pawn shop?" Jay asks as Sensei Garmadon walks us through the city of Stiix. Garmadon insisted that he'll lead us to the gemstone, but looking up at the musty pawn shop, I question him.

"A ninja must always have the proper gear before heading into a mission," he says generically, walking into the pawn shop. The rest of us follow him, Kai taking very cautious steps.

"Is everything alright Kai? You appear to have an elevated heartbeat," Zane asks Kai, who shoots him a glare.

"I'm fine," he continues to walk weird. The rest of us shrug, walking through the door of the pawn shop. Inside, there are various items, ranging from useful to useless. There's a range of items, no two things looking the same. Behind the counter, there is a man, seemingly in his mid to late thirties, sharpening a katana. His hair is brown in long, partially shielded by a red hat that matches the bandana covering his mouth. When he sees he has company, he takes the bandana off.

"Ooo ninja. This should be good," he mumbles, placing his sword down. "Welcome to my shop. I'm Ronin. Can I offer you some ninja stars for 400 coins?"

"No thank you. We are here in search of scuba gear," Garmadon speaks for all of us.

"Scuba gear? Why do we need scuba gear?" Kai asks, skeptically looking down at the ground below us.

"I take it you all are on a mission," Ronin leans against the counter, looking around his shop.

"What we're on is a time crunch. Do you have the gear?" Lloyd asks. Ronin smirks, standing up.

"Straight to the point. I like it," he walks across the room, pulling out a barrel of supplies. "I have oxygen tanks, masks, wet suits, you name it."

"We'll take five complete sets," Garmadon informs him, pulling his wallet out of his pocket.

"Four complete sets," Kai corrects him. "I...I can't swim."

Once the words escape his mouth, a temporary silence floods the room. Lloyd's eyes widen. Garmadon looks confused. Zane looks at Kai skeptically. I cover my mouth to prevent my laughter from escaping my mouth. Jay, on the other hand, laughs out loud.

"You can't swim? You saved Ninjago, and you don't know how to swim," he laughs, taking any chance to make fun of Kai.

"Laugh all you want, blue bird," Kai crosses his arms.

"We'll take four," Garmadon finally speaks up again.

"That will be 700 coins," Ronin informs Garmadon, sticking his hand out.

"It's only supposed to be 400," Garmadon frowns. Ronin shrugs, a smirk on his face.

"You're in a rush, are you not?" he asks, already knowing that we're on a time crunch.

"Fine, we'll take the deal," Garmadon hands over the money, and in response, Ronin gives us four complete scuba sets. "Let's go, ninja. You guys have a date with the ocean."

"There's a set of stairs underwater. Follow those, and you'll eventually stumble upon a chest with a flame engraved on the side. Cole can open it with his strength," Garmadon instructs us. 

Zane, Lloyd, Jay and I all stand by the edge of a dock all geared out in the supplies we just got. All of us are wearing wet suits accented in our signature colors, with the exception of my accents being grey. We all have caps over our heads and goggles over our eyes in order to see underwater. We have flippers on our feet, oxygen tanks on our backs, and mouth pieces to connect us to the oxygen tanks.
