「「A R I A 」」

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for gracing us with your presence on this special occasion. It's been truly a wonderful event so far.

"To my darling husband, my dear King, on your birthday, I say, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for always being by my side to love, support, encourage and protect me. You not only make my heart happy but also my entire body as a whole. God really blessed me abundantly the day He brought us together. I pray that your birthday is filled with beauty and awesomeness, just like your life is. I treasure you and will love you to the moon and back all the days of my life. Thank you for every beautiful thing you have done for me as well giving me this treasure that's growing inside me. I know you'll be the best father, we love you very much." At this point even I knew I sounded like some lovesick wife thanks to Lola's creative speech. I could never write something like this! This man had been doing the exact opposite! But of course, I had to act civilized.

I took a pause, looking at everyone and flashing them my heartwarming smile before finishing off. "At this juncture, ladies and gentlemen, please join me in raising your glasses to the most remarkable man in my life. Happy birthday, my love!"

With that said, the whole ballroom was filled with clinks and cheers. My foolish husband pulled me into a tight hug which resulted to more cheering and a lot of flashing lights.

Chai, you go fear acting!

Soon everything was calm and we were all seated, eating all kinds of food. The celebration wasn't really big, Adekunle didn't want a lot of people so we only invited 80 guests. On each round table, there were ten people seated there, adorned by expensive jewelry and high quality materials.

Folake and I had already finished eating, we were chatting while waiting for desert to be served. Suddenly I felt her tense up, I followed her gaze and found Uncle Taiwo walking up to our table. Adekunle must have wondered why we stopped talking because he stopped eating his amala, he saw his uncle walking to our direction, and just like Folake he tensed up. (Amala - a thick paste made from skin, eaten chiefly in Yoruba cuisine)

"Ah ah, my dear boy happy birthday!" Taiwo exclaimed, giving my husband a rough pat on his shoulder.

Adekunle clenched his jaw and forced out a, "thank you."

I could see that he was holding himself back, he didn't like Taiwo.

The old man gave my husband's shoulder another tight squeeze before proceeding to my side to 'greet' me. "Our beautiful iyawo! Well done o, I can see your handwork."

"Thank you sir."

"You look very stunning by the way, this pregnancy looks good on you. I'm sure we'll soon be expecting our child." Something about the way he spoke sent chills down my spine but I brushed it off.

Soon after the party was finally over, we had taken over a hundred pictures. Folake was so excited because she loved her dress, we wore matching golden traditional skirts and blouse that were adorned with tiny diamonds. We definitely looked like money! While Adekunle literally looked like an angel, he was wearing a black and white traditional wear.

We were on our way home when Queen Waje pulled me aside, she said she needed to talk to me.

"My daughter, I just want to say thank you for all your hard work. Look at how everything went smoothly! I know it hasn't been easy for you, especially since you're expecting our baby soon. Just keep being strong and patient enh, I know my son fit get strong head but don't give up on your love."

I almost started crying, so she thinks I really love this foolish man?

"Thank you very much ma! I will continue to try my best."

"What did you and mommy talk about?" Adekunle asked the next morning as we drove out of the palace. We were on our way to the hospital for a check up.

Why do you want to know oga?!

I smiled a bit, "what's your business sir?"

He sighed and replied with irritation lacing around his voice, "na my business!"

"Abeg abeg, don't start with that yeye attitude. She was just happy about the party."

With that he simply hummed.

I decided to break the silence, "what's up between you and uncle Tiawo?"

I could feel him tense up, he turned and look into my eyes before responding. "Nothing that's concerns you, just stay away from him!"

We were done with the scanning and were now sitted in Doctor Deborah's white office listening to her talk about my baby. She was explaining that we didn't need to worry and that we were doing very well.

"Your baby is probably snoozing, stretching, swallowing, and even thumb-sucking. Your baby is busy this month as he or she tests out he or her new reflexes and abilities. The baby is losing their top-heavy look as he or her height starts to catch up to the head size. By the end of this month, the babywill measure about six to eight inches in length and weigh approximately six ounces."

I must say Adekunle would look adorable as a father, too bad he isn't the father of my child. I wish I could understand what happened to me, how did I get pregnant? There definitely has to be something wrong and I will find out.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when Adekunle's loud voice brought me out of my thoughts. "Thank you very much for having us, we shall be on our way now."

"Ah wait, I almost forgot! Avoid greasy, fatty, and spicy foods. Stay away from alcohol and caffeinated drinks— these may relax the valve between the stomach and the esophagus and exacerbate heartburn. Drink plenty of water between meals to reduce stomach acid. And lastly, pile a few extra pillows on the bed to assist gravity in easing heartburn while you sleep."

All this for me?!

I nodded my head and Adekunle gave me a knowing look.
