Braeden
One Week Later
"How's it feel to finally be an adult like the rest of us," Betty asks and I laugh softly.
"It feels just like I'm seventeen Elizabeth," I say and fix my hair.
"Why are you so worried about how your hair looks? It's a pool party," Archie asks and I shrug.
"I like to look good Archie. You should try it sometime," I say.
It's been a little while since it's been just the three of us hanging out. It's nice. Reggie said he had to go talk to someone before the party, which was weird, but it's whatever. Of course we haven't really talked much since I stabbed his father's hand. To be fair, I could've killed him, but I didn't.
I don't remember much from that night after my first few drinks. There was a lot of crying and... That's it. That is literally all I got. Well I guess that morning I...
No. I don't want to think about that right now. Nothing happened. They told me we didn't do anything and I just want to believe them. It's much easier that way.
"Why can't we just run to Cheryl's," Archie complains as we walk to my car. Oh. Reggie bought me a car for my birthday. It was amazing, but at four in the morning when he showed me, I didn't react excited since I was still exhausted, so he almost returned it.
"Cause I wanna drive," I say. "Also my hair is always so messy after a turn human again and I did not spend an hour on this for that."
We get in the car, but when I go to put the key in the ignition, it disappears. "What the hell," I mutter and look up and groan. "Not today," I say as I open my door and step out. "What do you want Luke? I thought I made it clear I want you out of my life," I say and when I see how frantically he's looking around, I soften up a bit. "What is it?"
"We need to talk, but it can't be here," he says and I bite my lip.
"Is it really that important," I ask and he stares at me.
"I wouldn't have came here if it wasn't," he says and I sigh.
"Braeden, what's going on," Betty asks and I look back at her and Archie, who look ready to tear Luke to shreds.
"I don't know," I say and smile softly at them. "But I need to go with him."
"What about Reggie," Archie asks and I can tell that he really doesn't want me to go.
"He'll just have to deal with it. Here," I say and toss Betty my keys. "I'll meet you there okay," I whisper and back towards Luke.
"Braeden don't go with him. You need to be at the party right away," Archie says, walking towards me.
"Arch, I have to," I say and grab Luke's hand and look at him. "Do it," I say and he nods softly.
"No," Archie yells as I watch us teleport away.
I let go of Luke and look around. "Where'd you take us," I ask and he shrugs.
"I don't know. Just somewhere that he won't find us," he says and pulls something out of his pocket. I see a ring and backup.
"Uhm, I don't love you anymore so thanks, but no thanks," I say and he rolls his eyes.
"It's not mine. It's Mantle's," he says and fidgets with it. "He's gonna propose," he says and I gasp softly.
"So what? Are you trying to stop me from being happy," I ask and reach to take the ring, but he pulls away.
"No. I wouldn't do that to you. Not anymore at least," he whispers. "I'm only here because my life is on the line anyways," he grunts.
