Chapter 21: Issue
"It's so amusing seeing you guys all together!"
Binati siya ng mga pinsan ko, Allen looked at me weirdly bago niya tinuon ang pansin kay Courtney.
"My sister isn't around tho." Bulong ni Jairus sa gilid ko. Tinawanan ko siya at kinindatan niya ako.
"Kamusta? I see you Two are together again?" Allen asked. I look at her again. She looks so shocked seeing Allen but duh! Kaka sabi niya lang na she's amused seeing us 'all together'.
"Let's all catch up this weekend. Free ba kayo maverick? Evie's birthday will be on sunday and im throwing a party for her." Gulat akong lumingon kay kuya sabay kuha ko sa phone ko at check ng calendar.
"Hala? Hindi mo alam?" Tanong ni lena at tumango ako. Hindi ko man lang namalayan ang bilis ng takbo ng panahon! This sunday, birthday ko na at ilang linggo nalang din ay Foundation week or intramurals whatever day na ng School.
"Thats great! But Can I borrow your cousin for lunch?" She said. Umiling si Allen at tinuro yung bakanteng upuan.
"We're having a lunch too, Why dont you join us? The more the merrier." Hindi na naka sagot si Courtney at umupo nalang siya sa bakanteng upuan, inalalayan pa siya ni Maverick pagka upo niya at nag ngitian pa sila. How sweet! I wanna puke.
"Ano ba ang pag-uusapan niyo ng pinsan ko at may separate lunch pa dapat kayo?" Tanong ni Allen. Kunot noo akong tumingin sakanya. Why is he being so talkative? Eh mana to kay Jairus na tikom ang bibig lagi maliban nalang kapag kaming mga pinsan niya ang kasama pero not so talkative Like this na masyado na siyang usisero.
"Oh. Its about the issue between the Lewis and Alcantara involving Castaneda and Ashton's family And mine." Taas kilay kong tinapunan ng tingin si Courtney. I know that the Castaneda are kinda involve with the alcanatara issue since my Mom is a casntaneda and a Lewis too, but ashton?
"Ashton? What about him? He is not involve with our family issue Courtney." I said. Gulat siyang tumingin saakin.
"You didnt know? Ashton Lee Mercado is bound to marry Andrea Stacey Lewis but the Alcantara's are much more powerful than the Mercado's so thats How Kenderson Brian Alcantara and Andrea Stacey got engaged. But their parents said that those Two are in a relationship so its a relief." I know about the relationship part because at first they're just prentending but they ended up faling for each other pero ang involve ang kaibigan kong si ashton? Hindi ko alam iyon!
Nakikinig ng mabuti ang mga pinsan ko. Same as my Brother who's I know also confused. Wala kaming alam na dalawa!
Naagaw ng pansin ko si Maverick, He's looking at me intensely. Feeling ko tagos hanggang kaluluwa ko yung titig niya. What now Maverick?
"So when I saw you and Ashton and you told me that your last name is Lewis, I told Maverick about the issue about the five families and maybe the engagement is still on going even though Stacey and Kenderson engagement are cancelled. You are a Lewis and Ashton is supposed to be the fiancé so I thought—-" Hindi na siya natapos sa pagsasalita ng hilutin ko ang noo ko.
"Courtney, my father and my mother is the one who's involve in that engagement. My sister doesn't have any idea of whats going on with the Lewis." Si kuya na ang sumagot.
"Oh im sorry. But the students here are talking about How Ashton keeps on following a Castaneda, Ashton is my cousin—" Pakshet ka ashton pinsan mo pala ito kunwari ka pang hindi ka pamilyar sakanya nung ka video call kita nung nasa Cavite ako! Mapanlinlang ka! Pero thats not my issue now.
"Thats not me. Ashton and I are best of friends, He's in Love with other Castaneda. Tiningnan mo ngayon kung sino ang kulang saamin, tapos hanapin mo si ashton sa paligid." Hinilot kong muli ang noo ko. Noo ko masakit buong noo ko!
"Is it Jane? Oh wow!" Hindi ka naman pala slow. "So still, about the engagement between Lewis and Alcantara is it going to be you and Kenderson?" I wanna roll my Eyes on her, kanina pa ako nagtitimpi but I dont wanna look rude.
"Kakasabi lang ng kapatid ko, we're not involve okay? I think you are majoring in journalism not agriculture." Tinapik ako ni kuya at hindi ko iyon pinansin. Tumaas ang kilay saakin ni Courtney. Go on bitch!
"Evie!" Tinaasan ko rin ng kilay si Maverick. How dare him called my name!
"But im stating facts here Evie, My family is hurt, from how the Lewis look at us Like we're just a small persons. Binasura nila ang proposals namin Like we're not even worth their time." gosh! Wala nga akong alam.
"How about you talk to my tito and tita? Maezy Lewis and David Lewis I Can asked them Courtney." Paghahamon ko. She roll her Eyes on me so i did the same. Kanina ko pa gustong gawin to naunahan mo lang ako!
"I dont know Evie ah! Maybe the reason Why your family wants you to study here is because of that issue? Ayaw ka nila siguro Ma involve pati narin ang kuya mo. Who knows? Maybe sooner or later mabalitaan ko nalang na kinasal ka na for bussines. Thats the method of Lewis diba?" I could hear the anger on her voice but fuck! Mas galit ako! Ang plastik niya pala kanina. What a fake bitch!
"Courtney stop! My cousin is bound to study here. Napag-usapan na iyon ng Lolo at Lola namin kahit pa nuon para payagan ang iisa nilang babaeng anak na manirahan sa Cavite. Whatever the issue of your family with the Lewis or the alcanataras, my cousin is clearly not—-"
"Will you shut the fuck up Allen? Im not talking to you. Im talking to that Lewis bitch." Tumayo ako sa kinauupuan ko at sinampal siya. How dare her calling me a bitch when shes clearly worse than a bitch!
I was about to slap her once again but Maverick stop and grab my hand harshly.
"Let go of me!" Sigaw ko sakanya. Many students are now looking at us, Leomar, Rj and my other cousins are now telling all the students to leave the canteen.
"You slut how dare you?!" Sigaw niya at hinila yung buhok ko. I was about to grab her hair when Maverick push me.
Parang slowmo ang pagtulak niya saakin, unti-unti kong nabitawan si Courtney at pati ang pagkabagsak ko sa sahig ay parang naging slowmo din.
"Fuck! Evie!" Sigaw ni kuya ng tuluyan na akong bumagsak sa sahig. Tumama pa ang noo ko sa may bakal na upuan na nasa tabi ng lamesa namin at dun na tuluyang bumagsak.
"Tangina mo ba?!" My cousins who saw what happened was ready to fight Maverick but when they saw me all of them went to me.
Hindi ko na alam ang susunod na nangyari, last thing I knew is that all of my cousins even Jane and the shocked ashton are panicking.
