I don't really know what to say about this ship.
It's cute. It's nice. Awkward emo boy x enthusiastic piano girl is a pretty good combination, but we don't get to see too much of it because of how soon Kaede dies. It's just kind of... bland. We get a lot of screentime of those two and it's pretty clear that Shuichi likes her, but we don't get any good reason why other than she gives him self-confidence and she's cute.
It's sort of canon, but Kaede is really more of a plot point than anything else. Her relationship with Shuichi isn't so much of a cute character thing as it is an excuse for Shuichi to get traumatized and have to overcome that trauma. They could potentially be really cute together, but that's not the way the story was designed and I'm just now realizing I have no idea what the hell I'm talking about but it sounds professional so I'm just going to go along with it.
It's not that I don't like it. I just don't feel all that strongly about it. Probably because I ship them both more with other people.
Sorry for the anticlimax, but I'm going to have to give this ship a 7.5/10.
