【A L V I N】

After having given him the silent treatment for at least five minutes for bringing up the night-light cockroach thing, I finally turned over to look at him to call him an incompetent piece of shit (as a joke, of course). However, he'd already fallen asleep. I swear the only time he looked cute was when he was asleep.

Not really, he looked cute all the time - which bothered me immensely.

I ended up falling asleep beside him, and even though we normally cuddled each other to sleep, the next morning we awoke on 'our side' of the couch, and he seemed visibly disappointed by that.

"I can't believe I really went to sleep without getting any cuddles," he complained. "You're a betrayer, you know that?"

"Have you always been this soft?" was my only answer, to which I earned an eyebrow raised followed by: "I don't know, you tell me."

He ended up going back home in order to take a shower and change into another set of clothes, and after having breakfast he came back over to my place and so did the rest of my friends. However, this time was slightly awkward and tense because the rest of them knew that I maybe had a thing for Lucien.

Which was why they were constantly giving the both of us suggestive looks. Margot was constantly nudging me with her elbow and they even suggested that we play seven minutes in heaven at some point. That's not all - they even forced the two of us to sit beside each other with literally zero millimetres of space between the both of us while the rest of them sat five whole light years away from each other.

And if you thought that was stressful, you haven't heard the worst part yet. At some point, Antonio even got up and kicked my shoulder as if I were a football hoping that I'd end up in Lucien's lap, however he just earned a tight slap from me instead, and I sat throughout the rest of the discussion with my shoulder in immense pain.

Somewhere into our discussion about how annoying the bugs on my floor were, Lucien reached over and placed his hand on my shoulder, giving it a comforting rub, "Does it still hurt?"

"A little bit," I admitted as the rest of them carried on with their conversation after giving us a knowing look.

"Are you sure it isn't bruised?" he questioned before raising the sleeve of my shirt a little bit so he could take a look. "Thank God, it isn't. Try not putting too much pressure onto the area, though."

I nodded in response and looked back over at the rest of my friends, however he didn't retract his hand. He let his fingertips rest on my shoulder ever so gently that they were literally driving me insane - because it was as if his fingers weren't there at all. Why was I acting this way? I really need to get my feelings under control or I might end up blurting out my feelings.

"Guys, let's play truth or dare," Antonio suddenly suggested.

"We're not twelve," Margot scoffed after which Antonio leaned over and whispered something in her ear. Then, she looked over at Lucien and I before nodding, "You know what? Antonio's always coming up with the greatest of ideas. I vote in favour."

"I vote in favour as well," Delilah commented with a cheerful grin.

"Don't count me out," Rowan piped in with a smug grin on their features before eyeing Lucien and I. "What about the two of you, huh? Couple of the century?"

The two of us subtly let that comment slide before giving the rest of them a blunt nod of approval. Then the game commenced. It started off with innocent questions and innocent dares, like 'what's your most embarrassing moment' or 'I dare you to touch that caterpillar under Alvin's carpet'.

However, around five minutes into the game, it took a turn for the worse. Or.. for the better.

"Looks like it's my turn to ask," Delilah spoke. She then proceeded to let her eyes scan everyone in the room before finally landing on her prey. "Lucien."

"Uh-oh," he responded. "I pick truth."

"What a coward," Antonio sighed. "Chicken Little called, he wants his brother back."

"Come on now, you've been picking truth throughout the entire game, don't come for me," Lucien said with a chuckle after which Antonio eventually surrendered in defeat.

"Okay, I have a good question!" Delilah interrupted. "Would you..."

Tension filled the air. The moment I heard those first two words come out of her mouth, my brain already filled out the rest. I knew what she was going to ask and I really wish I didn't, because at that moment, my palms began to sweat and I felt like I had the Niagara Falls on the palm of my hand.

"Would you ever consider adopting a dog?"

Oh. I was wrong.

Before he could answer, she let out a chuckle, "I'm just kidding. That's not what I was going to ask."

Uh-oh.

"What I was going to ask was," she began, and just like that, the tension increased. "Would you ever consider dating Alvin?"

There it was. The question I dreaded. At that moment I began wishing that some superhuman force would rip my ears right out from where they belonged so I wouldn't have to face the ultimate rejection yet again. Nevertheless, I dug my nails into my palms and braced myself for what was to come next.

He stayed silent for a minute or two before clearing his throat, "I mean.. yeah, I would actually."

And my heart combusted right then and there.
