Drizzt looked around as he walked through the halls of Mirkwood, his heart filled with nerves and excitement.
He hardly thought he'd ever be in this position, with a home in a light elven city. He'd never even thought he'd settle down anywhere, and if he did he thought  it'd be in Gondor with Aragorn.

But when did anything in his life went as he expected? He laughed quietly as the thought crossed his mind. A lord of the realm, and if things went how he wanted, a prince.

Well, he didn't want to be a prince, necessarily, he wanted to marry Leevria. And unless they ran away, being a prince wasn't something he could avoid.

He made it to the kings study in the library, slowly raising his hand and knocking. There was silence in the room before the door slowly opened, the king stared at him "Drizzt? Did you need something?" Thranduil raised his eyebrows "I haven't seen Leevria since dinner, if that's what your here for"

Drizzt shook his head "No, she's reading. I wanted to ask you something" Thranduil drew his eyebrows together "Oh. Well, go on"

Drizzt laughed nervously, scratching the back of his neck "It's important. I don't want anyone else to hear." He nodded to the room behind him "May I?"

Thranduil hesitantly opened the door wider, shuttling it behind the two of them and going back to his chair "What is it you need, child?"

Drizzt let out a breath of air "It's about Leevria"

"I inferred as much"

"Right" Drizzt started again "Aran nin (My lord)-

"Pedig edhellen (have you learned sindarian)?" Thranduil interrupted.

"Leevrias teaching me. I can't fully speak it yet, but I can understand"

Thranduil nodded as Drizzt began to speak again, standing and circling him like a predator would prey.

"I really care about her, Sire. So much." He prefaced "I can't imagine my life without her."

"So your question is? I have things to finish"

"I would like your blessing"

Thranduil gasped and pulled back "For what?"

Drizzt closed his eyes, pushing down the nervousness he felt "To ask for her hand, in marriage"

Thranduil didn't speak, only staring at him. "My lord, I know it's a shock and I-

The king held up his hand "Quiet." Drizzt watched as Thranduil walked closer to him.
"What makes you worthy of my daughter?"

Drizzt looked at him "I don't believe I am. I'm but a ranger, and I've nothing to give her. I can't give her a kingdom and I can't make her a queen."
He pushed his hair from his face "But I love her. And I promise you, not a single person you could betroth her to will as much as I do"

Thranduil sighed "I never thought I could tolerate a drow in my presence after the queens death. I surely never thought I'd accept one to court my daughter."

He grabbed Drizzts shoulder in an almost painful grip "I can't believe I'm saying this, and I may not like it. But I...I, as King of Mirkwood, Ruler of the woodland elves, give you my blessing to propose to Leevria Mythandrian."
