One day like any other browsing the appstore out of sheer boredom, I came across an application with a logo that caught my attention.

It was a white square on top of another black square. I didn't know what it was supposed to be, but it would keep appearing again and again no matter how many times I tapped the "I'm not interested" button.

It had 5 stars but no reviews on the app page.
The only description it had seemed to be corrupted.

There were many words superimposed one on top of the other, the only ones I could actually read "never again alone with your virtual friend- the more active he will become the more they interact"

It had several tags, including photography, augmented reality, and simulation.

I shouldn't install it, it was just under 10mb so it was pretty dodgy.

There was a pretty high chance that it was a virus or something harmful to my phone.

Still I found myself looking at the logo from time to time on the list of recommended games.
My curious mind wanted to hit the green download button to see what happened.

(They wouldn't allow malware in the appstore). - I said trying to convince myself.

I was woken up by the 6:30 alarm ready to go to ...

I was already putting on my pants when I realized it was Sunday.
Not being able to go back to sleep, I grabbed my phone.

Installed correctly

(I don't remember installing this ..?)

I tried to search for the application on my phone settings but couldn't find any trace.

I tried to enter the application page but I couldn't find it, like it never existed.

I gave up and went to make myself breakfast.

* PING *

It was a bit strange that I received any
messages, but the strangest thing of all was its content.

It was a photo of the entrance of my school, empty since it was not open on Sundays.

But the weirdest thing was that on the left edge of the photo there was a black spot which i couldn't identify.

I remember that in the application it said something about photography so I guess i should have expected it.

A day later I received a message in the middle of class, this time it was a photo of the park where I usually hang out with friends.

-Hello?
-Do I know you?

(No response..)

This application sends photos of the places I had been to recently, so it must be using my GPS.

This continued for the rest of the week, sending me photos of familiar places every three to four hours.

I decided to block the number and it seemed to work until minutes later I received another photo.

I couldn't even block the mysterious sender?
I decided to ignore the photos from that day on.

It had worked quite well, until I tapped the wrong button while talking to someone.

What I saw almost made me drop my phone.

It was a photo that seemed to have been taken today, when we were chatting with my friends in the park.

First of all, I don't remember anyone taking a photo of us.
What terrified me the most was the creature behind us.

It appeared to be a bit over six feet tall and was in the middle of the photo, covered in a black material resembling an animal's fur, it was also wearing a wolf's skull as a mask.

The person behind all this seemed to have a lot of free time on their hands, even the legs were strange, similar to those of a dog or wolf.

I discovered they were called digitigrade after a quick internet search, it showed the effort that had gone into making the costume as creepy as possible.

After that day i was in a permanent state of alert when I wasn't at home.

I would run back from school scared of what would happen if I stayed on the streets for too long.

At night I decided to seek help on the internet.

I was willing to get that application off me.
There had to be some drone or something following me.

00000000000000000000000000000000

Nothing, not a single result.

I ended up playing video games, which distracted me just a little bit.

I went back to ignoring the pings again.

The application was harmless, its only intention was to scare you with well-edited photos.
It would fit the description of photography and augmented reality.

I felt braver having thought rationally for the first time in quite a long time.
It wasn't wise to open it in the middle of class, but the day was almost over and I was curious.

I shouldn't have done that.

It was sitting right behind me.

The creature was positioned in such a way that it rested its head on my shoulder.
Looking at its skull closer you could see that it had eyes without pupils, which seemed to be looking at me through the screen.

I let out a nervous laugh and put the phone in my pocket.

It continued to vibrate but I ignored it.

I tried to pay attention in class but the image of the creature kept coming back to my mind.

00000000000000000000000000000000

The second the exit bell rang I ran out of the classroom and into the hall.
I ran until I couldn't feel my legs any more.
I got home, struggled with the lock, and managed to get inside.

I let out a big sigh of relief, whatever it was, stalker or beast would have to pass over a locked metal door
I emptied my pockets on the table and unlocked my cell phone.

-Monsters aren't real -I said to myself as I opened the message.

Another photo of the creature this time with its back to the door.
One detail that I had not seen in the previous photos were the claws it had.

At about an inch long , they seemed capable of doing a lot of damage if they wanted to.

That made me panic even more.

(I should call the police..!)
(But they probably wouldn't believe me.)

I didn't want to be found dead in my own home.

Desperate I looked for some weapon to defend myself.

The baseball bat I had under my bed would suffice.
Taking gentle steps I slowly approached the peephole on the door.

There was no trace of the creature outside, which left me uneasy.

My cell phone vibrated again which made me jump back.

Looking quickly to the side I could see the beast in my peripheral vision.

I quickly turned around and swung the bat, which hit something solid.

* CRACK *
