A New Companion

After we got things sorted out (meaning Erica refused to take back what she said), we went deeper into the dungeon. I had Erica pick off a spear from one of the humans so she wouldn't be defenseless. Pretty soon some slimes came into view.

"Erica, listen, your job is to pick up the monster cores after I kill them, okay?"

"Okay."

I slowly walked towards the slimes. My fight with the goblins made me realize how few attacks I actually have. So now, with these slimes, I have to develop a new skill. I've been relying on fox thorn too much, it nearly caused the death of me back there with the goblins. Now let's try to develop a new skill.

I focused my mana flow towards my tails.

"Maybe I can use my tails as a sort of whip."

I stretched my mana and over lapped it, making layers of thick mana. Then I tried extending it.

"Oh? What does this do?"

"[EXTEND]"

Suddenly my two tails became about a foot longer.

"Hmm... this is pretty useless. If I try whipping a monster with my tail like this, they can easily just stab it and I'd be screwed. Wait. When I was learning the multi-shot technique there was a moment before I shot them where all of my tail hairs had become needles, what if I do that again?"

I let my mana flow into each hair, and within a matter of seconds, all my tail hair had become razor sharp thorns.

"It looks so stupid, like a pinecone. Let's try this."

I forced my mana to flow straighter, and all of the needles pointed straight towards the very top of my tail.

"Nice!"

I used extend while my tail was now a deadly weapon and sent my right tail straight forward, obliterating the slime.

"Ah, now THIS is useful."

I smashed every single slime into little pieces, doing one hit kills every time.

And tail strike leveled up, this skill will definitely be useful in close range combat.

"Reath! Here are the cores!"

I deactivated tail strike, letting Erica put the cores in my tail. Tail strike is without a doubt useful, but it consumes 2 mana every second, and fox thorn consumes one every second, so I really should devour some cores later.

Me and Erica repeated this process, killing slimes and small groups of goblins as we went deeper into the dungeon. When I looked at the system alerts, I apparently had a few levels up from fighting them and I was too busy fighting to take a look.

Pretty soon me and Erica stumbled upon something breathtaking. After turning one corner, the dungeon design completely changed. It opened into a very wide room, there was a small forest, green grass, a waterfall and a lake, glowing stones on the ceiling making the entire place look very sunny, and a few slimes rolling around, as well as a few baby goblins. I looked over to Erica with a puzzling face.

"What's wrong?"

"Um... how the hell is a forest inside a dungeon?"

"You really don't know?"

I shook my head

"Every dungeon has one of these on each floor, it's the nursery. Its were all the newborn monsters live until they evolve into their adult form, it's a no fight zone, and adult monsters are unable to enter."

"But I'm an adult monster, so how the hell did I get here?"

"Well, you weren't born in the dungeon, since you've never been to the nursery the dungeon can't tell how old you are."

"Oh."

We continued into the nursery, going to finally get a drink of water from the crystal-clear lake. I bent down sipping the water.

"WEEEEE!"

A big splash drenched me in water. Erica was now in the water, butt naked.

"What the f*ck Erica."

She looked at me with a big grin.

"Come on! Get in, the water feels great!"

"But, uh... your naked."

"So? I don't see anyone else around."

"What about me?"

"You're a fox."

The fact a girl didn't have any reaction to me seeing her naked and implying I'm not seen as a man sorta put a dent in my confidence.

"Screw it."

I jumped into the water, making an even bigger splash than Erica.

Now, something I've realized about Erica is that she is a classic "tomboy". She kept getting in and out of the water, shouting "CANNON BALL!". I just sat there soaking in the water. I looked down, and for the first time I saw my reflection.

No wonder those humans were so scared of me. I look f*cking terrifying.

I had a very serious look on my face even though I wasn't trying to make one, and my eyes looked scary as hell. My eyes were completely pitch black, with my pupil the color of pure gold. All of my teeth were razor sharp fangs. I sighed realizing I was gonna have to look like this for the rest of my life.

"Wait. Erica!"

She turned towards me, still grinning with a bright smile. I turned away trying not to look at naked, I didn't realized Erica had a very big pair of "melons". Not to mention the fact she had all the curves and a pretty face.

"Erm, Erica, can you make me one of those amulets than turn me into a human?"

"Of course! But I need a monster core to make one."

"No problem."

I got out of the water and dropped a goblin core out of my tail storage, and Erica picked it up. she chanted some sort of prayer and the core turned from green to golden. Tendrils grew out from the core growing a chain.

"Alright, here you go."

I bent me head down and she placed the amulet around my neck. It started glowing very brightly. Golden mist started to surround me, my feet starting to float off the ground, and then, a huge puff of smoke surrounded me with a loud *CRACK* sound. And there I was. A human.
