The Babysitter

Betty was getting ready at her small yet convenient apartment while her best friend, Veronica Lodge, was doing the same for her new job at Pop's. The two of them had met each other in high school when Veronica was new to her school in California. Veronica was a girl from a pretty rich family and a business invested dad. Most of his businesses with their family investors were illegal tho. Veronica's mother knew everything that went on in the family but never did anything about it. Betty was a girl from a decent and normal middle class family but her mother was nothing near normal. Alice Cooper was an overbearing mother who wanted her daughter to be perfect and only cared about their reputation. Her father int he other hand didn't really care about all these things but what can you do when you are Alice Cooper's husband.

Right after high school, the two of them went to New York University which felt great for them. The liberty from the perfect life and illegal businesses was better than they could've imagined. When they were back from college, Veronica was almost blackmailed into getting in their family business while Alice started controlling Betty's life all over again. It was then they realized that it was impossible to put them off their backs unless they ran away. So Veronica withdrew all her money saved from the bank and the two of them ran off to the town near New York called Riverdale, all the way in the other side of the country. They knew that soon enough they would run out of money so Betty put her child loving skills to use while Veronica put her business mind into the Assistant Manager post in the small local diner.

Betty was wearing a real coloured sweatshirt with her favourite black sweatpants. Her hair was tied into her iconic ponytail and she was wearing light makeup. Veronica was wearing the Pop's uniform with her raven hair open and her pearl necklace on her neck, the only thing she had from her parents.

Betty grabbed an apple from the counter as Veronica started talking," This uniform isn't that bad honestly. It's pretty comfortable."

Betty laughed and said," I told you. Now you see why all that whining was unnecessary yesterday?"

Veronica smiled and nodded at her best friend and then said," Tell me about the handsome guy who hired you."

" I suggest you tone it down. Firstly cuz he's my boss right now and secondly cuz I never said anything about him being handsome. "

" So he's not handsome?"

" Never said that either. I mean he is pretty good looking but I don't wanna think about that right now because for the second time... he's my boss."

" So he's hot! My bestie's finally gonna get laid!", Veronica sung.

Betty rolled her eyes at Veronica. The two of them hadn't changed much in this point of view. Veronica was she flirt while Betty stood beside her rolling her eyes at her best friends antiques. Betty always believed that there will be one guy perfect for her, the soulmate type of thing, and at that point she will know that he's the one for her. But that doesn't mean that she hasn't had a few boyfriends during her school and college days, although Mama Cooper was never happy during those times.

Betty then smirked and asked Veronica," What about that hunk who interviewed you at Pop's?"

Veronica smiled and said," Well he is a total hunk honestly. His name is Archie Andrews and god is he hot!"

" Ok ew. If I knew you would daydream about him I would've never asked. What does he do in the diner?"

" Well he is the next owner of the diner. Although till now he's just some waiter because the owner wants him to understand the normal work waiters do. You know so that he never bosses them too much."

" Wait...so the they aren't related? Archie and the owner."

" Oh no. Apparently Archie and this other guy named Jughead, who is Archie's best friend, used to be the best customers of the shop. So when they were in high school they pledged to work there someday. Apparently Jughead worked there for a while but then went on to become a famous writer but Archie still works there."

( A/N Let's just say that Betty knows his name is Forsythe instead of Jughead.)

" Jug-head? That's one weird name but his job sounds cool. But that's beside the point. You and the Archie guy talked a lot it seems?", Betty raised her eyebrows at the last part.

" Ok shut up. We talked while he was helping me understand everything in the diner."

" Including him?"

Veronica threw the pillow near her at Betty, but Betty had already escaped and was out of the door. She screamed goodbye to Veronica and headed towards the Jones house for her first day at work.
