I was panicking, I didn't know what to do. When all of the sudden...

I closed my eyes and turned away. His lips kissed my hand.

"Mmm..." I looked back at Ben.

"What're you doing?" He opened his eyes shocked.

"I-I thought I was kissing you..." I laughed.

"Fuck no! Like I would let that happen!" I continued laughing.

"I thought we had something going for us."
I sighed.

"I can't Ben. I just... can't." I bent over.

"Why? Is it my fault?" I started to scribble on the sand.

"I mean... part of it is your fault. But no." He sighed.

"I've lost you... Haven't I?" I looked at him.

"What do you mean?"

"I see the way you look at him."

"Huh?" He chuckled.

"I know because you used to look at me like that."
I tilted my head.

"I'm lost..."

"Heh. So I have." He sighed.

"Hey..." I placed my hand on his shoulder.

"Macey. You like Leon, don't you?" I froze.

"Macey~ woohoo!" Ben moved his hand in front of my face.

I sighed.

"Yeah. But it's useless now." He tilted his head.

"Why?"

"He likes someone else. It's not my place to interfere. We're childhood friends for Pete's sake... Who am I to interfere with his happiness?"

"How do I look at him, Ben?" He thought.

"Back at the arcade, all you could do was gaze over at his date and him. Then when you did the slightest frown appeared on your face. You've become so aware of your expressions that it's very subtle. People that know you would very well could tell you were off." I looked towards the ocean.

"I'm so tired of everything." He laughed.

"So am I."

"I just wish things could stay simple and not get tangled into a big mess."

"Macey?" I hummed.

"Is this... our end?" I looked at him.

"It seems that way, doesn't it?" I sighed.
