him

Little y/n was wandering around near her house, she had little to almost nothing to do that Wednesday morning. Her father was in their house a short distance away, watching as the sun rays shone down onto his 4 year old daughter and the cool morning breeze made her hair fly behind her.

He watched as his little girl made her way to the playground, stopping in front of a boy who looked around the same age as her.

He was sitting alone on the curb of the pavement with a rather forlorn expression on his face.

" Are you alone? " Y/n asked, nudging the little boy she didn't know.

He nodded his head, looking over to her, " who are you? "

" My name is Y/n! I'm four! " she said excitedly, " will you be my first friend? "

He nodded once again, smiling at his new found friend, " Im Jaemin and Im five. "

" Why did you look so sad just now? " She asked curiously, looking at the uneven ground.

" My parents are fighting again. " he spoke, voice cracking in emotion.

She pouted, placing her small hand over his soft one and assuring him that everything was going to be ok and that she would be there for him whenever he needed someone.

That was how their friendship started.

The start of both their happiness, misery and pain.

Y/n's father supported the pair's cute relationship. Her mother... doesn't give two shits about her.

On the other hand, Jaem's parents disapprove about y/n being his friend just because she is a girl.

Both of them had fallen out of love, constantly arguing and abusing Jaemin.

Both believe that Jaemin was a mistake and that they both would have been happier without him.

They didn't want Jaemin to be happy.

But little Jaemin liked her and would spend a lot of time with her since they were in the same school. She made him happier than anyone would ever make him. She made him complete.

" I told you not to get close to the girl! " his mother shouted the moment she saw her son walk through the door with a keychain in hand.

It was handmade, his name spelt out in beads between the other black and white plain ones.

" She's my friend "
" You're falling for her "
" So? "
" Throw it away. "
Jaemin immediately shook his head, placing the keychain safely in his bag.

" I'm warning you, throw it away and stop talking to the girl. She's distracting your studies "

" No. " he said shortly and attempted to walk back to his room when his mother pushed him into the ground.

" Kneel there until you decide to stop coming in contact with her, if not no food for you again. " she rolled her eyes and settled down comfortably on the couch.

Jaemin was used to everything, being abused and starved, only y/n understood him perfectly and she didn't judge him.

She was always there for him 24/7 which was one of the reasons why he fell for her.

He gritted his teeth in anger, standing up from the floor and taking his mother completely by surprise. He made his way to the door only to feel the vice-like grip on his arm,

His mother yanked him back and caused him to nearly lose his balance but he pulled his hand out of her grip, feeling a rush of different emotions inside him as he ran to the door, flinging it open and running out.

With tears pouring down his face, he ran across the road, forgetting to check for cars, not that his tears were helping. Through his tears, he could see the bright headlight of the oncoming car from the side of his eye.

His natural instinct was to stop and shut his eyes. He could feel the impact of the car, and the impact of his head hitting the concrete road.

Everything went black and the last thing he heard was the sound of the car door opening and closing and his body getting shaken as he slipped into unconsciousness.

The owner of the car and his son rushed unconscious Jaemin to the hospital and he thankfully woke up about a week later. When he tried to sit up from the hospital bed, his head started to spin.

When the nurse came to take his particulars, he could only remember his own name and birthday but gradually, more memories started coming back to him. All the times he got beaten, all the times he got abused...

He remembered his feelings towards a particular girl, racking his brains to figure out her name and how she looked, caused his head to throb and he eventually gave up.

The hospital had found out his parents' phone number, ringing them up to inform them about their child but they pretended to not know him.

" Dad, can we go see the boy whom you hit by accident? " the little boy asked his father whilst tugging on his sleeve.

" Of course we can, Taeyong-ah. We're very near the hospital now, " his father smiled, pulling into the parking lot of the hospital and getting out of the car.

The nurse at the counter greeted them politely as they walked in, asking if they needed any assistance.

" We're looking for a little boy who came in after an accident. "

" Sir, his name is Na Jaemin in ward 127 and are you perhaps his father or relative? We are unable to contact his parents and he doesn't remember where he stays. If it's time for him to be discharged and no one comes to send him home then... he'll have to be put in an orphanage. "

" Hello! You're Jaemin and I'm Taeyong! Nice to meet you! " Taeyong said excitedly, bouncing over to Jaemin who laid on the hospital bed, unmoving.

" I'm sorry that my dad hit you, are you ok? Don't hate on my dad okay? You can hate me instead. " Taeyong said, poking his arm lightly.

" I'm not mad at you... it's just... it seems like I don't have parents... " his voice trailed off.

Taeyong turned to his dad who stood beside him silently, tugging on his sleeve and asking if they could adopt him.

Taeyong's father agreed, proud that his son had a heart of gold.

" Jaemin... my dad is going to bring you into the family, are you ok with it? "

Jaemin turned over to his side and looked at the boy 5 years older than him, " so you're going to be my brother? "

With that, Jaemin was adopted. He became Taeyong's step brother and switched schools because he couldn't remember which one he went to.

He became colder and more distant after the accident. He felt as if he was unable to love or feel loved even though Taeyong and his father showered him with love daily.

Felt incomplete, like a part of him torn away from him but he didn't know why.

Y/n was devastated and inconsolable when Jaemin suddenly disappeared, her memories of him fading till she could barely remember him.

Then she met Chan who made her happy again. But her happiness didn't last long as he magically disappeared.

Just like everyone else she valued, her father, Chan and him...
