LUNA'S POV:

I woke up to the bright, yellow sun outside my window in the Ravenclaw girls' dormitory. I still replayed the image of the red headed girl looking at me in my head. It was all I could think about. I also always thought about how her eyes lit up when she smiled and how I wished I could be closer to her. But we had a great friendship and I didn't want to ruin it. Especially if she didn't feel the way towards me and I doubt she does.

I got ready and played around with my hair as I walked to breakfast. I saw Ginny and ran up to her and then slowed down a little so I wouldn't look so desperate or be annoying.

"Good morning, Ginny." I said. I kept myself calm and collected and tried not to freak out as  she stared back at me.

She looked at me in a special way. Maybe she does like me? Maybe not...

"Morning, Luna. How'd you sleep last night? I thought I wasn't gonna be able to fall asleep but to my surprise I slept great." I could listen to her speak all day.

"It's good to hear you slept well. I had a great night's rest as well. I'm pretty glad to be back at Hogwarts after what felt like a very long summer." I responded. I kept thinking of how to say to keep the conversation alive so I could hear her speak. It made me get a funny feeling in my stomach.

"I agree It felt like the hours went slower." Responded Ginny.

"Look who it is! Looney Lovegood! And who's this? A Weasley?" A boy stopped us in the middle of the hallway.

"Oh be quiet! You don't know what you're talking about." Ginny responded. I watched her get angrier by the second.

The boy pushed her and before I could react she quickly got up and punched him into the ground.

"Ginny, no!" I exclaimed. I didn't want her to get points taken off her house if she got caught.

She turned around and looked at me and I saw she felt rather embarrassed.

"I-I'm sorry...I didn't like the nickname he was giving you. You're my fr- well you mean a lot to me, Luna." She seemed to be avoiding the word friend. Maybe she thought of me as more? I kept having these ideas that maybe she liked, maybe just a little.

"Bloody hell!" I turned my head after hearing Ron's voice to see Harry and Hermione by his side. They were all staring at the boy who was passed out with a bloody nose and Ginny with blood on her clenched fist.

"Ron...it's not what it looks like! He was calling Luna mean nicknames and I- I got aggressive... well maybe it is what It looks like. He's still alive! I think..."

"Ginny! Do you want to get points taken off of Gryffindor? If you get caught-" Ron was interrupted.

"What is going on?!" They all turned around to see McGonagall and Snape. I didn't turn around since I was already facing them.

"Follow me. All of you. Take the boy to Madam
Pomfrey, Snape." McGonagall ordered and started to walk as we followed her.

。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

"Explain to me what happened, Ginny. You're the one with the bloody fist." She said leaning forward a little.

"I was on my way to the great hall and Luna tapped me on the shoulder. We started talking and a boy stopped us and called her... well...."
She didn't want to say it i case it offended me.

"Looney Lovegood." I said and put my hand on Ginny's shoulder and back on my side and smiled at her. I felt that funny feeling in my stomach again when she smiled at me. I didn't know what is was called but I knew what It meant. That I obviously liked Ginny. I knew that since I first laid eyes on her.

She seemed to frown when I said Looney and continued:

"Then I tried defending her saying 'You don't know what you're talking about.' and he pushed me so without any thought I punched him and he started to bleed from his nose . Then Ron saw me and you and Snape caught me." Said Ginny.

"Is this true?" She asked looking at the rest of us. We all nodded.

"I appreciate you're honesty, but I have to take  points off of Gryfinndor. It was kind of you to stand up for Luna but next time don't punch someone. I'll make sure to talk to the boy who said this." She nodded for us to leave and we did as we were told.

After leaving the room I told Ginny: "Thank you for standing up for me, Ginny." I blushed but she didn't seem to notice.

"Of course, I'm here for you." She smiled still looking at her hands and occasionally at my eyes.

I got closer to her and wrapped my arms around her waist for a hug. She completed the hug by putting her arms around my neck and I blushed but luckily she couldn't see me.

"Well there's still some time left for breakfast so we better get going." Said Ginny and I nodded. What an eventful day we were having so far.
