Chapter 18

Marinette's POV

"Welcome miss Dupain Cheng." Mr. Agreste's secretary said as she held her tablet firmly. "Mr. Agreste will see you now."

After school, Adrien's secretary came to pick him up but she also had a message for me, from the one and only Gabriel Agreste. The fashion designer wanted me to come over to his house and discuss something. So I asked my parents if it was okay and they allowed me to go to Adrien's home. So here I was walking in my nemesis's abode.

As I stood in his office, I remembered what Tikki told me;

"Be careful Marinette." Tikki squeaked as I dropped my bag in my room, "He might know you are Ladybug and the guardian of the most powerful objects in the universe."

"I know Tikki, I don't want him to know that I know that he's Hawkmoth. It is risky but I have a plan to solve everything but I have to talk with Chat noir first." I whispered to my kwami as I walked down to the bakery where Adrien's secretary was waiting for me.

"We have to go now, miss Dupain Cheng. We don't want to keep Mr. Agreste waiting." I nodded and followed the blue haired lady into the car and sat beside Adrien.

"Miss Dupain Cheng, how lovely to meet you." The famous fashion designer said with a smile that creeped me out in oh so many ways. If I didn't know he was a villain, I would've been very happy to be in the presence of my idol.

"Good afternoon Mr. Agreste." I said trying to sound as excited as I can. "It's a huge honour to meet you."

Mr. Agreste nodded at Natalie which made her leave the room. The fashion designer walked to the nearest window and looked out of it as he spoke up, "I want to make you a deal of a lifetime."

"And what is that exactly?" I queried.

"I have seen your designing skills and I have to say they are unique and modern, so I want to make you the next greatest fashion designer but you'll have to go to the US to start at a proper fashion school." I was shocked at his deal. This was really a great opportunity but I can't agree to this, I can never agree to this.

"I really appreciate your offer Mr. Agreste, but I can't accept it." I said with confidence. He smiled faintly but quickly wiped it away with a confused expression.

"May I ask why?"

"My family and friends are here in Paris, this is where I belong." I said as he frowned a bit then smiled again, which still creeped me out.

"I understand Miss Dupain Cheng," he faced his wife's portrait, "family is important and one can do anything to see them happy." He was silent for a while as he stared at the abstract painting, "Wouldn't you do anything for your family even if it seemed wrong?"

I knew he was talking about his not-so-dead wife, "Family is important but  it's also important to always do the right thing. If it seems wrong, don't do it."

He nodded, "You're right miss Dupain Cheng. Thank you for your time, you may leave now."

I smiled faintly as I walked out of his office which I sneaked into recently. I was about to walk out the front door when I heard Adrien call my name. I turned around to face the blonde model, "Do you still want to investigate? I mean, since you're here and I really don't have anything to do today."

In his room? "S... sure, why not." I said with a smile, even though I was still scared of staying in Hawkmoth's home for too long.

We walked upstairs and he opened the door revealing his huge room. I had only been here once...or twice... I think. I know I snuck into this place when he was having a party and we had to defeat Party Crasher. And I also came here to confess my feelings to him but I came as Ladybug then Bunnyx came and sent me to the future to defeat Chat noir.
