"NAKEMURA-SAN!"

A voice rung in the air like thunder. As I grabbed my bento from my school bag, Nishinoya-san stood panting heavily over me, obviously looking like he was running pretty fast for quite a while. I almost felt like I was experiencing déjà vu from yesterday- or any other day.

"What is it?"

I asked plainly, getting to the point. I wasn't surprised anymore of his raucous actions, like screaming my name suddenly or running at full speed towards me. It was a normal occurrence now, to be honest. Though, it was in a weird way that I was used to it when others weren't.

"C-can you. Can........ You..."

The once energetic boy slowed down and his sentence trailed off. Nishinoya-san stiffened and looked down to the ground with waves replacing the smile on his mouth.

"CAN YOU EAT LUNCH WITH ME?!"

Now, THAT was a surprise.

"NAKEMURA-SAN, I-"

"KEEP IT DOWN, YOU MORON."

I hissed angrily at the obnoxious boy after slapping my one free hand over his open mouth in an effort to quiet/calm him down.

When I was with him, I swear all ounces of my usually abundant patience disappeared in an instant. It was really troublesome- and I have no idea why I associated myself with him in the first place.

"Stop yelling out of nowhere! You attract too much attention!"

I whispered, scolding the libero that was just a few inches taller than I was.

"W-why so suddenly, anyway?"

I finished, this time a tiny bit of heat rushing to my face. Why such a bold declaration- to me?! Didn't he have plans with other friends?!

"I thought it was a good way to repay you for the practice, y'know....."

The volleyball player sulked and pouted at my hostile response.

I sighed as I looked at the people around us- utter confusion written all over their faces.

"Okay... I guess."

I responded more gently in an effort to make my voice seem more satisfying to Nishinoya-san's childlike sadness.

"RE-.. I mean, really?!"

Thank the gods he was self aware of his excitement this time. Why couldn't he be like that all the time, though? That alone would make him more bearable to be around.

"Yeah, okay.... But don't make me late to class.."

I agreed. I clutched a black strap to my bag and looked down to Nishinoya-san's shoes with a half-red face.

I was so easily embarrassed by anything that came out of his mouth, now. But who wouldn't? I mean, most of the things he says impulsively can be taken in many ways.
Such a problematic boy.

"Yooosh! Let's go! I found us a really close place here- I'm sure you'd like it!"

Nishinoya-san's whole face lit up as he trailed off into detail of the place.

"Yes, yes......"

I replied sighing, mostly like a mother having to deal with a jubilant child in a toy store. I wasn't listening to half of the words that came out of his overly loud mouth, and half of the reason was because the mumble was so fast I couldn't keep up with whatever language he was even speaking.

"So then, the people there started sa-"

Nishinoya-san cut off his sentence instantly and gave a sharp, quiet gasp upon turning around to see me straddling along behind his quick-paced steps. His crow-like eyes widened as he stared at my face in such a weird manner. Was there something on it? No, he was fine looking at it before. What was wrong?
