His Greenie (Newt x Reader)

-Into the Maze-

You watched as Newt did his work, he told you to plant the seeds and you finished just an hour ago..."This is getting boring" You said to yourself but Newt heard you, he faced you "How about you make baskets, hmm? do something" he says quite coldly and you rolled your eyes, 'Bossy'

You walked over to the supplies and started working on the basket, luckily you know how and you made three...Newt came in and looked at the baskets you've made "Looks like you're better to be a basket maker than to be a runner" You rolled your eyes and focused on your basket

"Where's Thomas?" you asked still not looking at him but you know he's sitting across from you "In the maze, with Minho" You looked at him "What's out there?" He shrugged "Grievers" You put down your basket and leaned on the table, separating you two "What are Grievers?"

"Minho said they're a mechanical beasts and trust me, you don't want to meet one"

"Did Thomas see one?"

He chuckled "He didn't just see, he killed one"

You smiled "That's my brother" Newt watched you as you continued working on your basket "I just can't believe he doesn't remember me" you said fighting the tears stinging your eyes "He just disappeared and then-nevermind, I don't think you're interested"

"What makes you say that?"

You placed the finished basket and looked at him "You have more important things to do and listening to a greenie's story isn't one of them"

He was silent and you heard yelling and screaming...Newt immediately stood up and gestured for you to follow...You ran after him and saw the crowd in front the open maze

"What's going on?" Newt asked a little boy with curly hair

"Thomas and Minho are still in there" the boy replied..."then, what if they're still in there?" you asked

A gust of wind came out from the maze and you heard a loud roar..."What the-"

Suddenly, the gigantic doors of the maze started closing making you panic "W-Why is it closing? They're still in there!" You asked no one in particular

"It closes during sundown and we can't stop it" Newt answered...You fiddled with your fingers as you prayed for your brother's safety...you didn't came here to just see him disappear again

"There!" someone yelled pointing at two figures, but the other one was on the back of the other....Thomas is on Minho and he's struggling to get out of the maze in time

"Hurry!" You yelled

The others were yelling for them to hurry up and some were saying to leave Thomas but most of them are believing they'll make it...but Newt isn't one of them

"They're not gonna make it" he mumbled

You can hear your heart hammering against your chest and you stared at your brother's limp body on Minho's back...You have to do something

Without thinking, You bolted towards the maze but you felt Newt take a hold of your wrist but you swat it away and ran right into the maze, the crowd screaming and yelling at you...the doors closed right after you entered...You collapsed to the floor gasping for air...

"What the hell were you thinking?" You turned to see Minho looking at you in disbelief "You're gonna get yourself killed"

You stood up and walked towards Thomas, ignoring Minho "What happened to him?"

"He got stung"

"By a griever?" He just nodded and leaned against the wall catching his breath "You're just like your brother...curious and dare I say it, reckless" You rolled your eyes, "When will it open again?" He looked at the giant stone doors "In the morning" You cringe at the thought of meeting grievers, you don't even have a clue on what to do if you see one, either you run or you hide

"Come on, we have to hide, before those beasts show up" Minho helped you carry Thomas, his arms on both of your shoulders

You hugged your legs close to you, resting your chin on your knees and watched as a set of metal legs pass by, Minho told you not to make a sound or else you're dead...literally

Thankfully, You saw light come into the maze, indicating that it's morning, you didn't come out of the curtain of vines yet though, what if a griever's still out there? better wait for Minho's signal

After a few more minutes, you heard the doors of the maze open and Minho tugged on your sleeve and nods, it's time

The two of you carried Thomas and saw the opening.....

"Yeah!" the little boy yells and the other boys came rushing towards him...Thomas is heavy making you grunt, "Come on, we're almost there" Minho says...You exerted more strength and you finally, made it out...the boys, carried Thomas to the med jacks and you were shocked to see Newt looking very worried...

"Go on, tell me I'm dumb and-"

You never got to finish what you were gonna say because he pulled you towards him, hugging you...of course you were shocked

"You're dumb alright, but I'm glad you made it out greenie" he says before pulling away "Come on, let's go get breakfast"

You just ate your breakfast and avoided eye contact with Newt and then, someone tapped your shoulder...You turned and saw the little boy

"Congrats,you're the very first girl to survive the maze" he said with a cheeky grin...you smiled back "Thanks" He nodded

"What's your name?"

"Y/N"

"I'm Chuck...See ya!" he says and then runs off...You smiled as you watch him disappear into the field

"Pretty Bubbly huh?" You turned and saw Newt, looking at you "Yeah"
