٢] fated survivors
• • •
split second head-turns
like secretly stolen glances
a few necessary pleasantries
and several amusing
point of inquiries later
my mind talks about you
like you put stars in my sky
like you blow clouds
away from the sunlight
it walks down lanes
searching your hidden home
finding your trail
on every little autumn leaf
and every stride of the wind
but I'm equally afraid
of wandering too far
what if you remember my home
and I'm not there
to open the doors?
for we were but puppets
in the hands of fate
the strings aligning our path
so I pulled the weight
of all my responsibilities
foolishly happy that
my heart has mislabelled
the wants of this being
as needs for survival
and imprisoned the thoughts
for they sound like free birds
