"You.. you're a woman?" Levi stutters.

I flinch, immediately slapping my mask back on. I shake my head no and he smirks.

"Don't worry, brat. I won't tell anyone," he goes back to his serious demeanour and I roll my eyes. Wow, so he can be considerate?

I shyly place a hand behind my neck. "Did.. did you see my face?"

"Barely, you're hair was everywhere. You looked like a constipated lion," he teased. How does one make fun of someone whilst holding a serious face? "Thinking you were a woman was just a wild guess of mine."

"Shut up or you'll regret it," I threaten.

"There aren't many females like you in this world," he admits. "You've earned my respect."

Thankfully my mask covered my sudden fluster. "I don't need your respect."

"That's not yours," Levi changes the topic as he keenly observes the gear you've occupied.

"It is not," I honestly reply with a smug expression which he also cannot see under my mask.

"I can tell that Oluo's rusty gear. It's fantastic that you were able to use it. You're not amazing yet.. but still impressive," he praises.

"My Father would occasionally go to the Above and one day he brought something like this this home," I chuckle. "And I tried it a bit."

He hums to himself, "so I guess that means I can trust you'll do well on our mission tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow?" That fast?

"Yes, we actually have another newbie in my squad. His name is Eren Jaeger but he was asleep when you came," he informs me. "Or he snuck out to meet up with his friends again - I don't know, I don't care."

"So he is someone I must help protect, isn't he." he nods and I place a hand on my hip. "Who's Eren Jaeger and why does he seem important to you?"

"He's a young Titan Shifter," Levi says and my jaw drops. I've heard legends about Titans from the Underground but never of ones where humans could turn themselves into one. "We're going to temporarily live in some castle outside these specific Walls so an acquaintance of mine to perform tests on him."

This was a lot of information to take in. Poor guy, I know what its like to get experimented on— "wait. How old is this boy?"

"14." my jaw drops.

"14? Isn't he a bit too young to experience these things?" I express my empathy towards the boy since at that age I went through so much as well.

"He's young but has matured very well," he assures me. "Honestly, I'd like to think of him as my younger brother.. but don't tell him that."

"But he's so young—"

"We have no choice," Levi cuts you off with a sigh. "That's why we're doing tests on outside to test his loyalty. If he ever goes berserk, I trust my soldiers and I can stop him. Theyre handpicked for a reason."

"By handpicked soldiers do you mean your squad?" I walk a little closer to him and he looks at me in the eyes.

He nods. "That also includes you," I raise my eyebrows. "You have skills that would be useful on the battlefield. That's why I personally asked Commander Erwin to place you under my care."

"I don't need you to take care of me," I coldly say.

Levi smirks. "Oh, no. I can tell you don't. I meant that statement in a way that conveyed that I can kill you whenever I want if you prove yourself untrustworthy."

I widen my eyes. "You're evil."

"There's no such thing as good or evil in this world, brat." he crosses his arms. He walks towards me and lifts my chin with his finger. "Just cause you're a woman doesn't mean I'll go any easier on you."

"As you should," I tilt my head.

He opens his mouth to say something but besides for a bit. "I was going to tell you to pack up for tomorrow but I just remembered you own nothing."

I slap his hand away. "Asshole."

"By the way, when will you tell us your real name?"

"Never."

"But I don't want to call you Katze. How about Kitty?" he jokes even with a serious demeanour.

"Can you just shut up? My gosh," I stomp away with an unintentional and unstoppable blush formed on my face.

"Where'd it go?!" Oluo cries as he searches through every nook and cranny in the household. "MY GEAR!"

Levi taps his foot as he waits for me to open the door so that I could explain myself. I scoff and cross my arms, deciding to eavesdrop the conversation from outside.

"I'm sure Levi'll find it!" Petra tries to comfort him. "He seemed sure when he said he knew where it could be!"

"MY GEAR!" he continues to wail and I finally slam the door open, throwing the ODM shit into Oluo's face. "MY GEAR!" he celebrates as he hugs it, "how DARE you?!"

Only Petra and Oluo were awake apparently as no one else was around except Levi who closed the door behind us.

I only stiffly stare at Oluo before stretching my arms. "Good night," I greet whilst walking away. Everyone stares at me with disbelief when Levi grabs the back of my shirt and pulls me back into the spot beside him.

My face meets his. Unfortunately, he isn't able to see my intense glare with this mask on. "Aren't you going to apologize?" he raises a brow.

For what?

Saying nothing, we end up only silently staring at each other. Levi calmly waits for my reply but I don't budge. He thinks sending me a threatening look is going to make me give in? No, I won't move. I can do this all night.

"I can do this all night," Levi states and this catches me off-guard. He just said what I was thinking. "I'll wait until you'll send your apologies to my comrade. We'll all wait."

"What?! I'm not apart of this!" the noticeably tired Petra whines.

I may be stubborn but I'm not heartless.

I'm not quite familiar with the motion of asking for forgiveness as I have never really had proper communication with other humans before.

Sighing, I turn my head to look at Oluo who still sat eagerly on the floor. "I value our friendship more than this argument. Rest well."

I shrug Levi's hand off me to walk away. I believe I have performed this form of apology exceptionally well! My internal celebration ends with Petra moves to stand in front of me.

"Please rephrase that!" she insists and I'm baffled. Is what I said not enough for you, Above-World bitches?

I look back at Oluo. "I'm sorry, Oluo." I retry and he smiles.

Levi hums, satisfied. I bump shoulders with Petra and head to my room. How preposterous.
