|~| Purpled's POV |~|

"What are you doing Y/n?!" I groan as they hit their head on the bridge above the path, failing the one-block-wide jump. Y/n yells echo distantly as they plummet to the emotionless void, respawning only five seconds later.

"I'm sorry!" They yelp from the base, their voice carrying over the empty, quiet air. Not even the wind flies today, through the dark, night sky. We're in a Bedwars game, playing on the Halloween-remake of Speedway: they call it Screamway.

I fight off another green, killing him with half my health left. The other one is on his way.

"Can you hurry up a bit?" I ask frantically, glancing back at our bridge. They're just walking on the first few blocks. "No rush, no pressure, just PLEASE don't fall in the void again."

There's no answer, which I hope means they're focusing and almost here. The second green player is standing at the top of their bridge, staring down at me intently. He's probably waiting for my next move, deciding what he wants to do to kill me.

"Y/N!" I yell as he jumps, bracing my sword up and ready for impact. But a blur leaps in the way, colliding with the green player and knocking them both to the ground, only a few feet away. Y/n is flopped on top of the green player, wheezing and panting.

The green player also looks dazed, and I take advantage, killing him with two hits of my sword. He disappears, his body turning to a cloud of green-tinged dust, Y/n falling another half a foot to the real ground.

"Thanks," I say, offering them my hand to pull them up. Gratefully, they take it and stand alongside me. That was the last time we'd have to kill green. We start our walk back to our base, Y/n collecting the diamonds from the shiny Diamond Gen.

"You did good." Y/n admits, which is nice coming from them: they don't compliment others a lot.

"Correction; I did great." I smile cheekily, earning myself a punch on the shoulder. We walk across the flimsy wool bridge, teetering around by our weight. Y/n walks over to the one-block jump, glancing uneasily at the bridge built above.

They take a step back and jump forward, their feet catching on the of the wool block on the other side. Y/n looks back at me, grinning as if they were smugly saying, 'Ha. I did it.' Then the wool dips under their feet, the weight being too much and Y/n's feet slip off the edge.

I lurch down to grab them, my fingers catching on their sweaters hood. Their unexpected new weight pulls me down onto my knees and I brace myself against the wool, hoping I don't fall with them.

"Dude, it'll be fine. Just drop me-" Y/n whisper is cut off by the sound of a dragon roaring, a red player's nametag standing proudly through the smoke.

"Hide your nametag," I whisper frantically, blocking mine. Y/n does the same holding their breath, their fear practically emitting off of them. I take out some wool and put it into my hand, blocking up the two-block space the red player could come through. Our hiding spot seems to work because the player retreats to his bridge, leaving as in peace.

Or relative peace- after all, Y/n is still hanging over the void; or their certain death.

"Please don't drop me." Y/n says quietly, nervously, like they think I'd really do that.

"I'd never drop you," I answer back fiercely, wincing as the pain in my arms increases. I need to think fast, I know I can't hold them up for much longer. I know the more I lean down, the more difficult it'll be to pull back up again. Maybe if I lean back though...

"Y/n, I need you to grab the wool above your head," I say through gritted teeth. Y/n nods and reaches up, her fingers locking on the edge of the wool. I continue, "On three, I'm going to pull up and backward. You have to try and pull yourself up too, okay?"

Y/n makes an agreeing sound but doesn't say anything, probably due to stress. I take a breath and close my eyes tight, and start to count.

"One..." I say quietly. I feel Y/n grab the wool tighter.

"Two..." I lean back a bit, my hand gripping onto her hood. I can imagine my knuckles being white from holding on so hard.

"Three!" I lean back with sudden force, pulling Y/n with me. They pulled herself up a bit, helping the cause and I lurch backward, them following suit. I cough as they lands on my chest, both of us letting out an 'oof'.

My breath reduces from a rapid, tired panic to a relived slow pace. Y/n is taking their time as well, uremaining on top of me. Neither of us mind- we're both just happy to be alive.

"You okay?" They finally say, looking away from the wool and void to my face. I smile and sit up, gently pushing Y/n off.

"My fingers just hurt a fuck ton, but otherwise I'm great." I say. Y/n laughs and moves away from me. We both stand up and I dust myself off. When I look back up, Y/n is staring at me, like they've got something to say.

"What?" I ask hesitantly.

"You don't look half-bad in blue." They laugh and build around the one-block hole, walking to our Gen. I feel my cheeks warm up a bit and I smile.

"Not the time Y/n- we've got a game to win."
