Sometimes it's easy to forget that Mirai's out here with him. Now, don't get him wrong. Sasuke loves Mirai. She's a good kid. She's quiet, doesn't bother him too much and just the right amount of smart—the type of smart that isn't condescending.
But...
Mirai's still a kid. Still a six year old little girl and she shouldn't be here.
She shouldn't be out here.
Out here in who knows where with who knows what—that beast from just a while ago proved that.
And the Rin girl that's been leading him around; proclaiming that she's going to help him—help them—is still a pretty sketchy figure.
Sasuke doesn't know what to make of Rin.
She's crazy, he knows that for a fact. But sometimes she reminds Sasuke of Sakura. They've both got the same determination and the same smart nature. Damn... he misses Sakura.
Sasuke holds onto Mirai's hand just a little bit tighter.
He won't allow himself to forget she's there.
He'll protect her.
She'll get her home—back to her mother. Kurenai's waiting after all.
They'll get out of here along with everyone else.
They'll make it out.
