You had heard several rumours about the infamous mountain, Mt Ebott. Some had claimed that people who had fallen down the mountain had died, some had claimed that people had met a monster civilisation underneath the mountain. Some have made bets that if anyone trespassed through the forest, they ended up dead.
You thought that a good majority of those conspiracies and theories were all a load of rubbish though. There was no such thing as monsters, so that crosses off the 'monster civilisation' theory. And you had been in that forest several times when you were younger, exploring and playing games.
You smiled as a faint memory faded into your mind. You and your mother used to go play around that area all the time when you were younger. Playing hide and seek, where your mother had insisted that you go hide while she searched through every bush to find you.
Your eyes widened as you noticed warm streaks of water rolling off of your rosy cheeks. Your hand comes up to your face and quickly brushes the tears off of your soft, delicate cheeks. You hadn't noticed that you were crying. You hadn't cried for a while now. But, you felt relieved to get some of your stress off of your shoulders.
You sighed, as you wandered around your empty house. You were currently getting ready for a job interview and turned the TV on as background noise. However, the news channel had caught your attention. They were discussing about how another child has gone missing, and reported to have last been seen near the forest surrounding Mt Ebott.
You felt your heart grow heavy for the child. Their poor family, you couldn't bare to imagine all the pain they must be in. You shook your head and repositioned yourself, and went upstairs to go get changed.
You opened your closet door to scan through your options. You frowned, not finding anything appropriate for the interview. You sighed as you stripped and threw on a plain white t-shirt, a f/c hoodie and some black shorts. Before you had put the hoodie on, you stared at it lovingly. Your parents had given it to you for one of your birthdays.
You remembered how excited and ecstatic you were when you tore off the wrapping paper to find the warm, fluffy piece of clothing. You wore it for weeks, forbidding anyone to touch or wash it, until your mother had convinced you to allow her to wash it.
You chuckled at the memory and shook your head, exiting your room. You descended down the stairs and headed straight to the kitchen, more specifically, the fridge. You opened the door and felt a small grin playing on your lips.
You sighed with relief and got a bottle of iced coffee and took off the cap as you took a deep breath, enjoying the sweet aroma. You took a quick sip before tightening the cap back on the bottle again and running to the front door to get your bag.
'Iced coffee, yep. Phone, wallet... Keys.'
You were genuinely surprised that you remembered your house keys. Usually, at the last second, when you had exited your house and were about to lock up, you would dig through your bag and realise that you had forgotten them, and try to sneak back inside without drawing attention to yourself. Usually though, you wouldn't go unnoticed. Your next-door neighbours would usually spot you and chuckle, which would cause you to scowl.
You took a deep breath as you looked at your empty driveway. You didn't own a car, you were convinced that driving just wasn't for you. Your eyes darted up towards the sky, noting the light shade of blue fading into a dark shade, several clouds slowly drifting away. You smiled meekly, as you walked towards the bus stop.
This should be a good day.
