"Hey, Nate?" "Yea, what's up?" "Thank you." He smiles and puts an arm around me. "Anytime." With that, we watch the sun go down as we sit in the sand. "It's beautiful." I smile. "You like sunsets?" He asks. "I like this one. Right here." "I'll remember that. Give me you phone?" He asks. "What for?" I smile. "You'll see." I hand him my phone. He starts tapping the screen. Eventually, he gives it back. "I don't want you to go back to his house, but if you do."
New Contact
Nate❤️
"Cute." I smile. "I know being close to you is gonna be hard for me, and I know I have a tendency to push people away, but I promise I will change. I'll stay by your side and support you through all these hard times." I smile. "I want to stay the more you're nice to me. I want to be treated more kind..." "I know. I won't let him hurt you."
*time skip*
"Today has been really nice." I tell him. "I'm glad you had fun." He smirks. "We should get ready to go soon. It's 7:00." I nod. "Clothes?" "Top drawer." "But-" "It's okay to borrow my clothes, (y/n)." I smile. I grab a oversized t and some sweats. "I'm gonna go get ready." I go into the bathroom and get changed, then realize something, "Uh, Nate?" "Yeah?" "I don't have any makeup or hygiene stuff." I hear him get up, then a knock at the door. I open it to find Nate.... shirtless. I feel my cheeks heat up a little. "Sorry I'm not dressed yet." "It's okay. Can you run me to my house so I can grab some things?" "But your boyfriend is having Amber over tonight." "They don't get back until 8. It's fine." He nods, puts a shirt on, and grabs his keys. I follow him out the door.
*time skip*
"It's go time. It's 8." I nod. You should bring a hoodie." He says. "I'll be fine, Nate." "If you insist."
*time skip*
"You sit here. I'll be on soon, okay?" I nod with a smile. 30 minutes pass, and people are filling the seats. A couple minutes later, and there he is. We make eye contact as he crosses the stage, and I smile with a wave. He waves back. The girls next to me fight over who he waved at, but I know it's me. The show goes on, and I start to get cold. I should've listened to Nate. At the end of one of his songs, he realizes I'm trying to warm myself. "Pause the music!" He shouts. "I want all of you to know, there is a very special girl here tonight. She's sitting in the front row in a black hat next to the girl with pink hair," he waves at me, "would you guys mind if I brought her up here?" The crowd cheers and I sit there frozen in shock. He climbs off stage and over to me. "Hey, it's gonna be just fine." He reaches his hand out as he assures me. I nod and grab his hand, allowing him to pull me on stage. "Sing Mansion with me." "Nate, I cant. They came to hear you." He smiles. "The song needs a female vocalist." I smile. "I cant sing, Nate. You've never heard me before." "I trusts you." He smiles. In that moment, I let go of my fear. "Ok." Here I go. The music plays and I start. "Insidious is blind inception. What's reality with all these questions? Feels like I missed my alarm and slept in. Slept in. Broken legs but I chase perfection. These walls are my blank expression. My mind is a home I'm trapped in. And it's lonely inside this mansion" Nate looks at me almost taken aback, but he goes on. When we're done, and the song comes to an end, the concert was supposed to be over. However, he had one more trick up his sleeve. "You can trust me, okay?" I nod. "I've been working on this song for awhile now, but never had the motivation. When I met her," he points to me, "that changed. I finally finished it. So, this next one is dedicated to her. She's special." The music starts. "Yeah, you, baby, you. You're something special." I feel my cheeks heat up slightly. "Baby, I know. I know what you're thinkin'. Maybe, maybe I'm wasting your time. But I promise, but I promise. I know that I go back and forth. But I won't let you, I won't let you, I won't let you down. Yeah." What is he talking about? "I meant it when I told you I would change. Meant it when I told you I would stay. Sick of talkin' on the phone, babe. Time to pack your car and come to my state. Come to my place, look at my face, oh, yeah." He promised me that on the beach. I smile. "You know I ain't playin'. I'm savin' some money, yeah, hop in car. And get on the road, here we go. Baby, I can't lie. I'm a little bit, I'm a little bit scared right now, girl, girl, yeah." Why would he be scared? "You said you want more. And I can't blame you for. Askin' me for somethin' you deserve." I just wanted to be treated kindly... "You're special. Yo-yo-you're special. Oh yeah, you're special. Yo-yo-you're special." He's so cute. "Yeah, I knew it, you was my type. We ain't gotta skip to the highlight. You're the highlight, girl, of my life. Both of us have got a past, but it's alright. All night car rides. Drivin' through the city, yeah, the view's fantastic. It's automatic, could see you smile, gotta have it. She got me thinkin' maybe I'ma have to put a ring on it, girl.." He's funny too. He's a god friend. "I ain't never been a romantic, but I can romance ya. Get your shoes on, baby, I am not asking. I'm 'bout to take you out to dinner, put the black dress on, got the room gaspin', how did this happen? I don't even know. She's the type to sing my words at the show. She's the type to pick me up when I'm low. And remind me she got my back, no matter what." He's got jokes lol. I will do that for him though. "Yeah, I think she hearin' me now. Fear what I think, so I'm thinkin' out loud. I need a woman I know I can trust, and I got one, I guess you can say that she down. Callin' my phone, and she told me she proud. She said my name and I like how that sounds, oh, yeah." My best friend. That's what this feels like. He's so adorable. "I like how that sounds. Baby, I, yeah. Baby, don't make me lose myself. Baby, I need somebody I know I can trust. I mean, I'm being honest. I ain't ever met a girl like you. Baby, you can call me. You can call me anytime. You can call me any day, anytime. You know I'ma answer. I won't let you, I won't let you down, yeah." I hope he sticks to his promise. "You said you want more. And I can't blame you for. Askin' me for somethin' you deserve. you deserve it." Thank you, Nate. "You're special, yeah. Yo-yo-you're special. I said, girl, I said, you're special. I said, you're special." He hums as the music comes to a stop. "Nate, that was so cute! You actually listened when I was talking at the beach earlier! No ones ever really listened like you." I smile. He gives me a hug. "Alright! Thanks everybody for coming, but it's late, and I gotta get this one to bed. Goodnight everyone." He grabs my hand and pulls me off stage. "You didn't tell me you could sing." "You didn't ask. YOU didn't tel me you wrote a song about me." "Touché." He laughs. "Let's get home." He smiles.
