Nicolas rounded the car and opened the door to once again pick Kai up in his arms. Once he was safely tucked into his chest he closed the car door with his foot and made sure to lock it before walking towards his house.

He tried to figure out how he's going to open the door when the door was opened by itself.

"Eleanor." He said surprised, "What are you still doing her?"

"Sir." She greeted, glancing at Kai worriedly and moved out of the way so Nicolas could walk in.

"I was waiting for you to come home from the party. Your mother had to leave for a business trip urgently but she told me to make sure you safely came home tonight." She explained and Nicolas nodded at the explanation.

"I'm going to put him in bed." He said gesturing to the sleeping boy in his arms.

He's not sleeping he's knocked out. The reminder made him tighten his arms around him protectively.

Nicolas climbed up the stairs and into his room to settle Kai on the bed. He looked at Kai's costume and debated in his head whether he should change him or not before deciding to just do it, surely the costume was uncomfortable.

He grabbed a sweatshirt from his closet and walked back to the bed. After carefully taking off Kai's shirt he slid the soft sweatshirt over his head and decided to leave the bottom part of the scrubs on Kai.

He then walked into the bathroom and grabbed a small towel and ran it under cold water to rest it on Kai's forehead. He then proceeded to take off his own costume and changed into a pair of black sweats and a black t-shirt. After making sure Kai was comfortable he stroked his hair and then left the room to go downstairs.

"Is he okay, sir?" Eleanor asked worriedly when Nicolas came back downstairs.

"He'll be alright and how many times have I told you that you can address me as Nicolas when mother is not around?" He asked and she shrugged.

"When did mother leave for the trip?" He asked going into the kitchen to get a glass of water.

"This morning." She answered.

"When is she coming back?" Nicolas asked her ignoring the disappointment of his mother not bothering to inform him of her trip earlier and leaving without saying goodbye.

"She said she will try to finish everything in a week or so." Eleanor answer and he nodded drinking the cold water.

"You may go now. Thank you for your help." He said and she nodded grabbing her things and leaving after saying goodbye.

Nicolas went back upstairs and sat on the bed next to Kai with his back to the headboard and grabbed the book he was currently reading from his bedside table to read.

Kai still hadn't moved and if he didn't wake up in two hours then Nicolas was going to call his doctor but he hoped that there would be no need.

About half an hour later Nicolas's eyes kept closing without his consent and he had to stifle his yawns. He wanted to sleep but he knew he wouldn't until he made sure Kai was okay.

He felt the bed shift and he turned to see Kai moving around with a small frown on his face. He grabbed the towel on his head and threw it on the floor before slowly opening his eyes.

"Kai, are you okay?" Nicolas asked setting the book down and getting on his knees to hover over Kai.

"I-I'm okay." Kai murmured, his eyes looking around in confusion.

"W-what happened?" He asked trying to get up before groaning in pain and laying back down.

"What's wrong? Does something hurt?" Nic asked frantically not knowing what to do.
