One year later

Breathe in.
Breathe out.

Hands trembling, Jennie stared at the dirty plates in her sink before taking a deep breath. She told herself, hoping to ease her anxiety, that everything would be fine. The beating of her heart was getting louder and louder and she highly thought that it might explode at any moment.

Breathe in.
Breathe out.

She closed her eyes and filled her lungs with a new breath of fresh air. Lisa told her to breathe each time she has a panic attack, and most of the time, thinking about her lover soothed her heart. With jaw clenched, Jennie opened her eyes and turned on the faucet.

She needed to distract her mind and washing dishes could be a good way to relieve stress. Her beating heart started to slow dance as the warm water ran over her hands.

In a blink of an eye, slender arms snaked around Jennie's waist from behind into a comfy embrace. The sudden physical contact didn't scare her at all because of one simple reason: Lisa was a huge fan of back hugs.

"Joyeux Anniversaire, mon cœur. (trans: Happy Birthday, my love.)" Lisa said in a soft voice, her mouth close to Jennie's ear.

The tall blonde put her chin on her lover's shoulder and tightened her hold like a koala with its favorite tree. Jennie stopped the faucet and turned around before pecking Lisa's lips.

"Thank you, sexy legs."

Jennie let her arms down on her shoulders in a sweet gesture while Lisa let out a laugh. Everything surrounding them faded away as their lips meet again, this time with more passion and eagerness. Jennie felt Lisa guided her backward, her back lightly pressing against the sink of the kitchen. The blonde beauty pulled her closer to her body until there was no distance between them and Jennie didn't pull away out of fear, but instead allowed her body to press harder against her.

"Can we cancel the meeting and get back to bed?" Lisa pouted. "I didn't have my breakfast yet."

Even though they've been dating for over a year now, her latest comment left a noticeable blush on Jennie's cheeks. An insolent sun poured its light on their face and sparkled at the same time, their loving eyes. Lisa has always been naughty around her, but since their first time, she has become even more naughty.

Jennie pinched her lips, "Honey, they'll be here soon... You really want to give them a heart attack again ?"

A deep feeling of embarrassment turned Lisa's stomach as she thought back on her last altercation with Jennie's mother. Let's say that paying a visit to her daughter and finding that her laying on top of another woman wasn't what Jennie's mom planned to see.

Emotional shock was a euphemism to describe her facial expression when she realized that her homophobic daughter wasn't so homophobic after all.

"Don't remind me. That was hella embarrassing," Lisa shook her head and sat on the kitchen countertop.

It happened two months ago, and so far her mother hasn't told her father about her discovery because reverend Kim hasn't knocked on his door yet. Jennie thought that her mother was done with her because she ignored all of her calls until this past Friday.

"Jennie Ruby Jane Kim, I'm coming in so make sure to be... dressed."

The call lasted approximately seven seconds. But, it was enough for Jennie to understand her message and to be anxious about this. However, the meeting went surprisedly well. Even though there were screams and shouts for ten minutes straight at the beginning, Lia Kim was too exhausted mentally to argue any longer with her beloved daughter. Five minutes later, Lisa found them crying in a tight embrace. And another five minutes later, she joined the hug full of tears.
