Taylor had spent her whole day re-recording, it's what she's been doing for two weeks now. Pretty much all day every day, desperate to finish and finally own her music. Today however, has been a bit different. The exhaustion is catching up with her and she's feeling a bit emotionally drained from singing repetitively about all her old emotions that she'd worked so hard to own. The nostalgia she's feeling is a bit overwhelming. As she pulls into the driveway, Taylor finally admits to herself that she's feeling bit low and should probably take a break but she's so wired at the moment, she knows it'll be near impossible to shut her mind off from this so she does her best to ignore her own feelings. Something she knows never ends well for her.
When Taylor enters their apartment, she pulls off her coat and kicks off her shoes, sighing in relief that she's home, it's been a long day and it's almost 10pm. She can hear the TV's on and Joe calls out
"Hey babe!" From the living room. Taylor moves her exhausted body towards the couch and towards Joe, flopping down next to him and resting her head on his shoulder. Joe's arm immediately wraps around her, kissing the top of her head.
"Long day love?" In response, Taylor nods and closes her eyes trying to swallow down the way she's feeling. A small amount of peace washes over her being in his arms, she's still so grateful he manages to do that for her.
"Have you eaten?" He asks softly, pulling her body closer so she's practically lying on him now. Once again, Taylor nods and sighs, wrapping her arms around his waist and nuzzling her face into his neck. The two of them sit in silence for a while, Joe goes back to watching TV while Taylor feels herself slowly slipping into sleep against him. Just as she's about to fully drop off, Joe shuts of the TV and gently moves her hair off her face, pressing a gentle kiss to her head.
"You wanna go up to bed love?" He whispers gently. Taylor's just so exhausted she gives him a half nod but can't even make the effort to move. Joe seems to have picked up on just how tired she is and gathers her up in his arms, walking up the stairs. Taylor's arms go around his neck and she feels herself falling asleep again, all she remembers is being placed into bed and cuddling up against Joe.

Taylor wakes up abruptly, her body has stopped allowing her to rest and her mind is alive again. She groans lightly, looking over at the digital clock on her nightstand. 3am. Taylor sighs before pulling herself out of bed and going downstairs to make some tea and do some more work. As her tea brews, a small sigh escapes her lips again and she stares out of the window, unable to really see much considering the darkness of the night.
Once her tea is ready, Taylor sits down at their kitchen counter, typing ideas into her phone and writing lists of tasks she knows need to be completed as soon as possible. Soon enough, her emotions from the day before make a reappearance. The overwhelming sense of nostalgia and the rush of emotions she was getting from recording were hitting her hard. The mix of all that and it being 3am meant she wasn't feeling okay right now. Her hands begin to shake slightly so she grabs onto her cup of tea, hoping the warmth would soothe her and stop the rush of emotions she's feeling. It didn't really work but she continues to sip her tea nonetheless and just stare into space. She can't quite explain the way she's feeling properly but she feels her mood sinking quickly and every other emotion she'd felt when originally recording her music is taking over - it's not a very nice feeling.
Taylor sits there for about 20 minutes on her own, just feeling so many unexplainable things that aren't even making any sense to her. She's mentally drained but at the same time she just can't stop thinking. She pushes hair off her own face before resting her head in her hands, trying to stop her brain from self-sabotaging. Clearly she needs some sort of break but to Taylor, her desire to get this music released outweighs literally anything else in the world at the moment. She needs to do this. She feels her chest constricting and Taylor does her best to gulp in breaths of air. She hates feeling like this and she knows the rush of emotions she'd been experiencing had triggered it.
After sitting there trying to get a hold of herself for god knows how long, Taylor hears footsteps coming down the stairs which makes her heart rate increase even more. She doesn't want him to see her like this, knowing full well he'd try and get her to take a break. She does her best to pull herself together before she hears his voice behind her.
"Taylor? Love, what are you doing up at his hour?" She turns around, standing up and plastering a smile on her face.
"Oh I just randomly felt like some tea so I-" Joe cuts her off quickly, gently placing his hands on her hips.
"Babe c'mon, what's going on?" His voice is laced with concern which makes Taylor's smile falter for a second.
"Nothing, really, I just wanted tea." Taylor can see in his eyes that he doesn't believe her, but all he does is pull her body close to his, wrapping his arms around her. She sinks into his warm body, finally feeling safe which apparently allows tears to begin falling from her eyes. She's not sobbing, just gentle tears are rolling down her cheeks, a product of all her pent-up emotions. She knows Joe can feel them by the way he tightens his grip around her and begins rubbing comforting circles into her back, kissing the top of her head. They just stand there in silence in the dimly lit living room, Taylor crying silently and Joe doing his best to comfort her. It was something the pair had grown used to over the past four years, they knew how best to comfort each other, something Taylor was grateful for when she couldn't quite explain what she needed.
After a while, Taylor's tears stop falling and she pulls back to look at Joe. He gives her a small smile, reaching up to wipe the tears from her cheeks before tucking her hair behind her ears, gently cupping her face and kissing her softly. When their lips part, Joe's arms wrap around her waist again, holding her close while still being able to see each others eyes.
"Sorry, I just...I think I'm just a bit emotional at the moment." Taylor murmurs, averting her eyes slightly.
"Because of your re-records?" Taylor looks up at him, surprised he'd figured out the cause so quickly. Joe just shrugs,
"I figured, even before you started this process that you'd be feeling pretty emotional and nostalgic over this. I mean, I can't even imagine putting that many years of work and that many emotions into something, only to have it ripped away and then re-create it in a short amount of time. It's pretty understandable you'd be feeling like this love, but I'm here to support you and help shoulder some of those emotions so please, don't hesitate to talk to me about this." He really had figured her out, she doesn't quite know what to say to him. She stares at him for a while before resting her head on his chest, allowing silence to fall over the both of them again.
"Thank you for understanding." Taylor says softly after a few moments, holding him tight, never wanting to let go.
"Of course love, I'm not going to stand between you or your work either...just please let me help with some of the emotions, I'm here for you through all of this. You know that." His words warm Taylor's heart,
"God I love you" She murmurs into his chest, pulling back to look up at him again.
"I love you too, so so much." They both smile at each other, going in for another gentle kiss before Taylor finds herself wrapped up in Joe's warm embrace. After a few moments, she realises just how exhausted she is and Joe pulls back, grabbing her hand and leading her back upstairs, pressing kisses to the back of her hand as they walk. Once they are back in bed, Taylor finally feels at ease cuddled up with him and it takes practically no time for her to fall asleep, all the while being grateful for the man she'd been lucky enough to fall in love with four years ago.
