CHAPTER SIX

CURIOSS laid on her bed and constantly checked her phone. It had been a week since she last saw Saint.

She was annoyed that he hadn't called her yet. But then again he didn't owe her anything.

She blew out a breath and turned on her back, staring at the ceiling fan.

Her phone began to ring and she answered it without checking the caller ID.

"Hello?" She cleared her throat.

"Hey baby, what do you want for dinner because I'm almost home." A wave of disappointment came to her, and she didn't know why either.

"What, am I annoying you?" She let out a small laugh, "No ma you good--- uhm anything, it doesn't matter."

"Okay my love."

She threw her phone at the far corner of her bed, giving up.

Her phone rang and she ignored it, but on the second ring she rolled her eyes while answering.

"Yes?" Saint chuckled, "Somebody fuckin' with you or sum?"

Curioss's eyes widened as she sat up on her bed, "No."

"Then why you sound like that?"

"I just woke up," She lied.

"I'm outside," With that being said he hung up the phone and Curioss was irritated.

She made her way outside and looked over the gate.

Saint was leaned up against his car as he watched her.

She made sure to lock the door and walked up to where he was parked.

"Is that for me?" She cheesed and the attitude she had earlier was gone.

Saint nodded and opened the car door for her, "Get in." She raised an eyebrow and slurped on her vanilla milkshake but said nothing and got in.

The drive was silent and for some reason it had alot of tension in the air. Curioss nervously tapped her fingers on the dashboard. She always felt some way when she was around him and she didn't know why.

Soon after the car pulled up to a studio like building, Saint got out and opened the door for Curioss, "Afta you."

"Mr. Blacks, welcome," The man greeted him once they stepped foot inside the building. He gave him a firm handshake and reached out to place a swift kiss on Curioss's hand, "Ma'am."

As they walked around the wide room Curioss was amazed at all paintings that surrounded her and each painting told a different story.

She trailed her hands over every detail.

"What's this?" Saint chuckled and wet his lips, "It's art shordy."

She slowly nodded her head, processing it all. However, a painting in the far corner caught her eyes.

Saint noticed her staring and spoke up, "Everything affects everything."

"What?"

He pointed his head towards the direction she was looking. "The painting, it means everything affects everything, even the flap of a butterfly's wings can cause chaos, and that every little thing we do matters."

Curioss trailed her fingers over it. It didn't had the most details but it spoke alot.

"And what's this one?" She pointed at the one next to her.

"It shows that our differences makes us who we are and that our differences also makes us the same, it'on matter if we black, white, chinese we all the same and when we die-" He paused still looking at the painting, "We go the same places."

Saint had a gone look in his eyes as he spoke but when she looked closer to study it, the look in his eyes was gone and the wall he had built around himself was back up.

"And what about this?"

"Bitches ain't shit." He deadpanned causing her to furrow her eyebrows in confusion, "Huh?"

He shook his head and tapped at the painting, "Bitches. Aint. Shit," A still confused Curioss looked towards the painting and he was right.

There was a girl on her knees giving a man heads and another man was holding out flowers for her but she held her hand out like she was denying him.

His phone rang and he pressed declined and checked the messages.

"We gotta cut this day short," He looked up from his phone.

Curioss was sad but she didn't show it. Instead, she walked out of the building with him. She was grateful that he had took some time out to show her this place.

"Why'd you bring me there?" She muttered. Saint watched her then placed his gaze back on the road, "I seen the ink on yo body shordy."

"You have tattoos too so why?" He shook his head and made a turn. "Nah not like that, the ones on ya body's different."

She stayed quiet because she knew he was right. They were different. To her, her body was a canvas; everything she've been through was on it. Every loss, every hurt, every mistake, and every heartbreak.

"Don't think too much on it," He said when he saw the zoned out expression on her face. Curioss raised her head, looking at him. "We all got our own story to tell, it's how we end it that matters."

"You sound like you going through something," She joked but a serious expression was painted on his face, "I just might be."

The rest of the ride was quiet. Curioss saw how he kept clenching and unclenching his fists. She couldn't help but wonder why he was such a closed off person. He was a mystery and she wasn't getting nowhere close to solving it.

"Keep safe," He told her when they arrived infront of her house.

She shook off the way he said it and nodded.

Saint made sure she got inside safely and looked around to see if anyone was following him. He reversed down the street then took a sharp turn.

"Hey mama," She plopped down on the couch once she reached inside.

"Who's car is it that dropped you off?" 'Nicka questioned her daughter with raised eybrows.

Remnick looked up from his game, "She's been acting grown mama, put her ass out."

Curioss pushed his head, "Boy, I am grown."

Remnick hummed and snapped his fingers, "Not in this house."

'Nicka shook her head at her children then went back into the kitchen.

A few hours had passed by and Curioss couldn't sleep; she had promise herself that she wouldn't turn to the pills.

Curioss sighed then dialed his number, she knew by just hearing his voice she would be able to sleep comfortably.

"Hello?" She answered his phone and her heart sunk. Curioss didn't know why but she felt a way. Even if they were just friends.

Karmen laughed when she hung up the phone and quietly placed it back on his nightstand but was startled when Saint grabbed ahold of her hand, "Get the fuck out."
