Y/n crouches underneath the bushes, adjusting the grib on her sword. She hears Katniss creep up behind her and an arrow is notched in the bow.
Y/n makes a finger gun towards the bunny that grazes in front of them and the arrow is sent whizzing over her head and straight into the heart of the deer, killing it immediately.
They approach the bunny and lock hands, closing their eyes. "Thank you for your sacrifice," Y/n says before picking it up and slinging it in their game bag.
Their hands lock again and they make their way through the brush to the top of the hill. They sit down together and watch as the sun peaks up from over the lush valley.
Katniss rests her head on Y/n's shoulder, and Y/n's arm comes around to stroke Katniss's cheek. "Darling, it'll be okay. I promise," Y/n assures.
Katniss looks up at her, her eyes wide. Tilting her chin up, Y/n kisses her girlfriend's supple lips softly in a silent reassurance.
"It'll be okay," she repeats again, turning to look at the sunrise.
