On Sunday morning, I wake up at 7:00, which in my eyes, is way before any sane person should wake up on the weekend. My nerves keep me from falling back asleep. I walk into the kitchen to eat some breakfast, and I see a note from my mother on the counter

I got called in for an emergency surgery, hopefully I'll be back for dinner, but I'm not sure. It's a big one!  Love, Mom

I let out a breath. I know this is just how it is, but I wish I could spend more time with my mom. I haven't heard much from my dad either since I stopped living with him, but every once in a while I'll get a quick "I love and miss you" text. Good enough for me, I guess. Doctors are great people for saving lives and helping people, but sometimes I just want parents who understand me and spend time with me.

After breakfast, I do some reading for my Japanese class, but quickly lose focus. I feel the sudden urge to find an outfit to wear.

Walking over to my closet, I check out my options. It's supposed to be warm today, so I first toy with the idea of wearing a cute sundress. The problem is that I've never worn a sundress in my life and don't really like wearing dresses. Plus, isn't that a bit too much for a study session? Next, I look through my t-shirts, but then I can't stop thinking about how embarrassing it would be for me to get pit stains. Tank top it is then. I end up picking a simple, black, square-neck top. Perfect. Not too much, but still cute. I also put on a simple back choker with a teal bead in the middle. Next, I opt for a pair of jean shorts. Shoes are easy: the answer is always converse. Checking myself out in the mirror, I feel satisfied with how I look. I'm a bit self-conscious about my body, but I know I look pretty good today. It's best to just not think about it too much.

Next, I throw on some makeup. Concealer, blush, a little highlight, a little darker eyeshadow, and mascara.

I check my watch. It's only 9:30. Well, damn.

I change back into my pajamas and plop down on the couch and start watching anime to pass the time. It's easy to get lost in a good show.

A little too easy, apparently, because when I check the time again, it's already 11:45.

"Shit, shit, shit!" I think to myself as I hurry back into my room to throw on my outfit again. Checking it one last time, I put on some extra deodorant, a little perfume, and dash out the door. Being a little late is probably inevitable at this point, but I still walk quickly to the park. By the time I arrive, I'm sweating. Great. Great look.

I look around the benches, and spot Kuroo sitting on one a ways away. His hair is as gloriously messy as ever, and makes him stand out like a beacon. As I approach, I see he's in a red t-shirt and black shorts. He really pulls it off too. I think red is his color. He spots me as I get closer and waves me over, a happy smile on his face.

I grin and jog the last couple of steps over to him.

"Hey, hey, y/n! How're you doing today?" He greets me and asks.

"Pretty good, I guess. I woke up way too early, but oh well! How about you?"

"I'm doing great, although I'm sure my day is just going to get better." I blush, gosh why is he so forward with everything?

"Okay, well...let's get started," I say, reaching into my bag to get out my chem notes.

"Hang on a sec. Let's make this fun." Oh boy. "How about, if you get a polyatomic ion right, you get to ask any question you want to me and if you get one wrong, I get to ask any question I want about you. How does that sound?" Kuroo is looking at me with a devilish smirk on his face.

Before I have time to think, my mouth moves on it's own. "Yeah, that's fine with me, but just be warned, I don't think you're going to get to ask me many questions." What absolute bullshit...I don't know most of the ions. He chuckles, and I think he realizes that too.
