There are two races in this world, humans and Aerillian, which are humans with animal qualities, that can shapeshift into their animal counterpart. 

The Aerillian, once divided by predator and prey, joined together in hiding after the humans began to hunt  Aerillian for sport. 

California, a young grizzly bear Aerillian, was always curious to see the world beyond the forest he and his people lived within. 

Texas, a young farmhand, is doubtful of the Aerillians existence, and is curious of their ethereal allure described to him by his employer, Spain.

When these two young men's paths collide, secrets, strange new feelings, and a life-changing discovery turns everything they thought they knew about the other's race upside down.

The Superspecies Two: A Haunting Sci-Fi Horror Mystery by GordonByron

A young girl is brutally abducted by a bloodthirsty grizzly, forcing a group of scientists to mop up a genetic engineering operation that is out of control, threatening any and all who enter the woods. One question remains: are the animals really dangerous for no reason at all or does their enhanced intelligence simply make them recognize something damning about human nature that needs to be understood before it's too late? Entire forests are quarantined in an attempt to control and contain the beasts but soon holes are discovered in the operation as key players start disappearing in addition to animals eluding their hunters, fighting back and changing the field of battle to their own terms. Ambushing their pursuers on more than one occasion. As the "pro-beast" and "pro-human" sides chase to their own interests with the unfortunate bears caught in the middle (struggling to establish themselves in a human dominated world), the animals learn more and more to rely on their expanding awareness to survive and thrive in an entirely new world...to evolution shattering effect!

Laura's leading the effort to solve this climate crisis, with her team of global environmental, atmospheric scientists for the U.S. company, H20, Corporation. Just when Earth's temperatures are beginning to normalize, the barometer starts climbing back up. Laura believes the human key to the Earth's weather crisis, is the team's newest member, MERC. Only he's not human and he's a charismatic psychopath. Merc's a first generation Originator, who's covertly working with the Untouchables. The Untouchables booby-trapped the Earth with artifacts believed to be creations of Earth's early civilizations. These machines of destruction are responsible for the blazing heat that is incrementally destroying the Earth. What causes complications for Laura's progress is her growing attraction to Merc, oddly because he's as void of a conscience as she is. She needs to figure out if Merc knows where the machines are so she can shut them down. Merc in turn, needs to stop Laura from finding the machines to keep Earth on its path to ruination. They are more powerful than they are letting on, and have no qualms about killing the other.
