Jill's POV

"We should be safe here." Agent Todd said as Agent Carmichael parked the car. "Or at least for a while."

"Is this supposed to be the drop point. Where are we?" Sgt. Collins asked.

"Another FBI safe house. As I told you earlier, you have been compromised." She explained.

"How can I be sure that you're not one of them?" He argued.

"The same way as you do." She retorted and stared at Andy.

I have noticed earlier how Officer Craig and Officer Kate looked at each other and it's the same as Sam and I. They were involved.

"Enough!" I yelled. "Let's go inside! The captain and Sam needs medical attention." Both FBI and the only remaining lucid SWAT member reluctantly agreed. Officer Craig on the other hand remained shocked. She must not have any idea regarding Officer White's involvement with the mob.

Before we went inside, Agent Todd made rounds to secure both inside and outside the perimeter. Agent Carmichael remained at the driver's seat in case we needed to flee.

"All clear." She said from the passenger side window.

"Let's move."

I carried Sam to the sofa while Sgt. Collins carried the captain. Agent Todd pulled the still shocked Officer Craig while Agent Carmichael remained on guard.

"There's rooms two bedroom upstairs. Just take your pick." I nodded and carried Sam up. I chose the first door that I saw. It's not like it's going to be permanent so there's no use choosing a room.

Placing Sam gently at the bed, I brushed off the stray hair that fell from her face. She haven't regain consciousness but I saw no signs of major wound... just a few scrapes and scratches nor any signs of internal bleeding. She must have hit her head as I felt a little bump on her side and I hoped she doesn't have a concussion or brain injury.

My worry was eased when she began to stir. "Sam? Baby?" I whispered as I caressed her forehead. "Baby? Come on wake-up..."

She slowly opened her eyes and I was delighted to see her familiar deep blue eyes. "What happened?" She tried to move but I stopped her.

"We were ambushed... You need to rest..."

"Okay..." I kissed her temple as she closed her eyes and remembered to wake her up again after two hours just to make sure that she doesn't fell into a coma. I just hoped that she'll be okay since it's impossible to bring her to the hospital due to the threats in her life and even the authorities were in chaos.

"I did what I can. The rest is up to him. Isn't it possible to call for support?" I heard Tom from the opened room up the hall. They must have taken Capt. Harper there.

"I can't contact the base. We're on our own for now." Agent Too replied.

"Shit!" He slammed the door shut after he walked out. Our eyes met and I could see the pain in his eyes. It was hard every time a brothers or sisters in blue die so I can't fathom the hurt he must be feeling for the loss of his team mates. Three were dead and one in unknown condition.

Agent Todd came out seconds after Tom passed by. "How's Sam?"

"Good. She woke up a little but I told her to rest. Is there something I could help? How's the captain?"

Based on her expression, his situation must be really bad. "I'm not a doctor but based on my experience, there's a chance that he might not make it. He loss a lot of blood and probably have internal bleeding. We managed to patch him up but it's not enough. He needed medical attention." She paused as we journeyed down. "You might have heard that I loss contact to base. We're on our own until we made contact."

Sgt. Tom wasn't anywhere in sight but Agent Carmichael and Officer Andy was in the living room. The SWAT member was seating on the couch like a statue and didn't even bother looking at us when we reached the first floor. Agent Carmichael nodded at us as she surveyed the area through the window.

"Where is he?" Agent Todd asked.

"Here." We both turned around in search for the source of the voice. Sgt. Tom was holding a can of soda. "You should stuff this place with something stronger than this."

"You know that's not possible." Agent Todd replied.

"Of course." He said nonchalantly. "So what's the story?"

"Long story short..." Agent Todd started. "Officer Kate White was seen in contact with one of Anton's lieutenant.

"That's impossible! She would never!" Andy yelled back. Her voice full of hurt and venom as she depended her team mate or probably best friend or even more.

"She's right! Her name's not on the book." I added.

"It's must be last minute." The FBI agent replied. "We had her in video surveillance. Also, a large sum of money had been deposited in her account and then suddenly, a new heart was made available for her sister's operation."

"Oh no... Kath..." Andy sobbed. "Kate's sister... Kath has a congenital heart condition. They have been waiting for a long time... Oh my god..." She then burst into tears. "What am I going to do..."

I took a seat beside her an tried to comfort her. "I'm so sorry." I then looked at the agents? "What now?"

"We wait. You should get some sleep and we'll guard here." I nodded and left without any argument. I don't have the strength anymore and my whole body was aching.

Rummaging the closet, I was thankful to find clothes for Sam and I. I took a basinet and towel then proceed to clean up and re-dress Sam. I also tried to wake her up and was delighted when she responded.

The hot water again helped soothed my aching muscles as well as the pain from the area near my wounds. There were blood from the bandages which meant I must have popped some stitches.

The stitches from my shoulder seemed fine so I just put some ointment and bandages as much as I could, especially the back. I seemed to pop a stitch or two on my leg wound but since it stopped bleeding, I just placed a bandage on it.

After I was done, I put on a black cargo pants and black long sleeves shirt. Sam and I usually slept on our undies or sometimes none at all but since we're on the run and had a tendency to be attack. I really don't want to be chase with barely clothes on.

Sam snuggled on me the moment I laid my back on the bed. She murmured something that I failed to understand. She's so cute especially when she's asleep.

Despite the thought that there were people guarding us, my mind was still restless that made sleeping very hard to attain.

"I love you Sam and I promise that I won't let them get you." Was my last thought my own body finally betrayed me and succumb to exhaustion.
