Jill's POV

"I'm hungry..." I whined at my partner. Due to the event at the convenient store, we were unable to eat our lunch. I wonder where Kim threw them.

"Let us round to the corner and buy some sandwich." Maintaining our current speed, she turned left towards the nearby park where food carts were located. She stopped the car and we both exited to buy our food.

"What's up officer!" The guy manning the cart greeted us.

"Hey TJ! One burger special for me and "Kim started.

"And extra tomatoes, ketchup and mustard." TJ cut in. "And hotdogs with lots of mayo for you officer Jill." He completed.

"You got it TJ!" I chuckled. His food cart was one of the best in our area. He said, the patty and hotdogs were all homemade and got special ingredient. From our frequent visits, we knew that he was a single father of two. The mother of his child left them for another man. He was a good father and a friend to us. "Here and keep the change." I handed him the bills. It was my way of helping him.

"Thanks Jill." A few more flips of the patty and heating of the bun, we got ourselves a lunch. We also bought some water from him.

The moment I received the hotdog sandwich, I took the biggest bite that my mouth can handle. "Relax there partner!" Kim chuckled as she walked behind me.

"Shhh..." Was the only thing I managed to say since my mouth was so full. I swallowed after a few more chews. "So hungry." Kim chuckled again as she herself took a few bites.

We placed the drinks at the middle seat while we took a few minutes eating our lunch.

Halfway through my meal, the familiar static from our radio was heard and the dispatch's voice. "Patrol this is central, we have a shooting and hostage situation at City State University all units respond."

The moment I heard the place, my heart started to beat fast. I knew that place. My twin, friends and the love of my life study there. "Kim!"

Before I could even react, she was already responding to the call. Our food discarded under the seat as Kim drove after switching the siren.

"Come on come on pick up!" I whispered to my cell. "Damn it!" I yelled as I reached the mailbox.

I then dialed a different number. "Jill!" The person responded at the second ring.

"Jack! What's happening? Where are you and the guys? Where's Sam?" I knew that I'm breaking protocol but I can't help it. I'll just face whatever punishment I might have.

"There was a shooting at the Economics building." He calmly said. "I'm in a different building so don't worry about me."

I released the breathe that I was holding. At least that's one less person for me to worry.

"How about the others?"

"Pete's with me. We're okay. I don't know about Mia and Nica but..." His tone changed.

"But what?!" I yelled.

"Sam's in that building." Shit! Shit! Shit!

I hang up without saying goodbye and before I dialed another number, my phone rang. It was Mia.

"Mia! Where are you?"

"Nica and I are at the apartment. We don't have a class today." Thank goodness. "We heard from our friends and Jill..." She paused.

"I know... Sam's there." There was a short pause before I spoke again as Kim sped away. "Please stay indoors and I'll call later."

"Calm down Jill cause if you don't I'll be force to cuff you here before you endanger yourself and others." She was right. I took a few calming breath and nodded a silent thanks.
