Calum and the others have been gone for a week now. Them being gone hit Landyn a lot harder than I thought it would. He doesn't understand why he can't go to Crystal's on Tuesday and Thursday. He doesn't understand why Michael can't play. And he really doesn't understand that Calum can't come over.
We are watching Duke while Calum's away, so Landyn's really enjoyed that. Duke has been sleeping with Landyn every night. The few nights Landyn ended up in my room, Duke came too.
Today is Landyn's first day of school. Last night we picked his clothes out and got his lunch together. Then right before bed, the guys called and gave Landyn a pep talk.
My alarm went off, pulling me out of bed. I got dressed to go to work then wandered to the main area to make Landyn breakfast then get him woken up.
As I made Landyn a pancake, Duke pattered in and plopped by my feet,
"You hungry?" I bent down to pet him. He whined so I went and filled his food and water bowl.
Landyn came out of his room just as I was putting his plate on the table. I watched as he walked over to the couch and grabbed my iPad, then came to the table. He sat in his seat and propped the iPad up and looked at me,
"Call Calum" he yawned,
"Calum's sleeping" I sighed, but then my phone buzzed with a text from Calum. So I gave in and FaceTimed him,
"Hi guys!" Calum smiled as his face popped up,
"Hi Cal" I laughed,
"Ready for your first day of school?" He asked Landyn. Landyn shrugged,
"Mommy won't tell me when I'm coming to see you. Do you know when I'm coming to see you?" Landyn asked.
Landyn has asked me every day since they've left. But the truth was, I didn't know when we'd be going to visit,
"I don't know dude. Me and your mom are figuring it out" Calum answered as Michael shoved his way into the frame,
"Uncle Mike!" Landyn cheered as pancake fell out of his mouth,
"Hey buddy! Have a super good day at school. Make sure Mommy takes pictures" Michael grinned,
"I will" I assured him, "But we do need to go. I've got to get him ready" I sighed,
"Okay," Calum laughed, "Bye Landyn! Bye Mads"
Landyn and I said our goodbyes and he finished up eating so we could get ready for school.
"You look cute buddy" I grinned as we walked out the door,
"You have to take my picture!" Landyn giggled. I smiled and grabbed my phone, pulling it out and taking a picture of him, posting it to Instagram,

"Alright let's go" I took his hand and led him down the stairs to the parking lot.
Landyn didn't talk the entire ride. I kept glancing in the rearview mirror, but he was just staring out the window.
I pulled into the parking lot and opened the back door. He was holding onto his stuffed raccoon- the comfort animal he had chosen since I wouldn't let him bring his giraffe (I didn't want to wash it every day after school since he sleeps with it).
"You okay?" I asked, unbuckling him and kissing his head,
"I'm scared" he pouted,
"It's going to be okay buddy. Preschool isn't scary. It's fun!" I tried to be enthusiastic. He nodded and I helped him hop out of the car and put his backpack on him.
Landyn held my hand as we walked inside. He was definitely getting shy. He was pushing against my legs, trying to hide.
Miss Julia came into our view and she smiled at Landyn, holding her hand out to him. He refused and got behind my legs,
"How are you today Landyn?" She asked, kneeling to his level. Landyn shrugged,
"Who's your furry friend you brought?" She asked him, referring to his stuffed raccoon,
"Puddles" Landyn quietly spoke. I laughed at the name. It was an odd name the stuffed animal but it was cute how he picked it,
"Well how about you and Puddles come inside and you can play with the other boys and girls. Then later we're going to talk and watch a video. We will even have a snack" Miss Julia tried.
Landyn looked up at me and I nodded at him. He sighed but let go of me,
"I'll see you later bubby. I love you" I kissed his head,
"Bye Mommy. Love you" he mumbled and walked in with Miss Julia.

I got to work and went to my office, pulling up feeds and charts for various aquariums across the US that I look at. But I barely got to do that because I was called to go down to the underground area of our building to check an intern's water readings.
I put my lab coat on and walked out of my office and downstairs, meeting one of my co-workers in the elevator,
"I hate interns" she muttered.
When I had finished everything up for the day, I left hand went to pick Landyn up from school. I got there just as they were supposed to be getting out.
I stood up by the entrance and watched the door open and kids start walking out. Landyn was the last one out, holding onto the hand of Puddles who was down by his side. In his other hand, he had a couple of papers,
"Hi Lanny" I took his backpack and tossed it over one shoulder, "Did you have a good day?" I asked,
"It was fun" he nodded, "I colored" he handed me the papers in his hand. I flipped through them as we walked to the car. He had one of me and him and another of him, me, Calum, and Duke.
"These are awesome baby" I grinned then helped him into his carseat,
"Will Calum like it?" He asked, taking the papers back from me,
"I think he will love it" I assured him,
"I miss Calum" Landyn sighed, "And Uncle Mike and Aunt Crissy- and Uncle Luke and Aunt Si- and Uncle Ashy and Aunt KayKay"
"I know you do" I kissed his head, "But I promise we will visit them soon"
