Yesterday and today, Maddie's dealing with her lawyer about how Landyn was assaulted at school. She ended up having a bunch of legal things to do. Michael and Crystal had to go too because they're the ones who are on the court papers from Landyn's dad too.

While Maddie's out, I've got Landyn all day. We leave for tour tomorrow so I want to make the most of my time with Landyn before we're with everybody, but I also had some errands to run today, and sadly Landyn's got to come too.

I got to Maddie's early so she could head out. I felt like she and Landyn needed their space and time together. He's traumatized and he needed his mom.

Landyn woke up as soon as Maddie left. I made him breakfast and helped him get dressed, then we headed down to my car.

I got Landyn buckled in while Duke roamed the backseat. Landyn was mad at me because I sold my Jeep and bought the Range Rover so he was playfully pouting.

"Where we going?" Landyn piped up, making me lower the music,

"We have to go get Duke some food and take him to my friend's house so he can watch him while we're gone. Then I've got a little surprise for you" I explained. Landyn nodded and looked back out the window. He's definitely been quiet since the incident. He's gone shy around just about everyone. Yesterday Maddie had taken him to Luke and Ashton's to get him warmed back up to them, Sierra, and KayKay. Luke's probably his favorite and he couldn't get Landyn to leave Maddie's side.

We got to the pet store and went in. I put Duke in the cart while Landyn walked next to me holding onto the hem of my shirt.

I grabbed everything Duke needed and we went to check out, but Landyn tugged my shirt to stop me,

"Can we look at the other pets?" He looked up at me. I nodded and turned the cart around as we walked to where the pets were. Landyn went straight to the turtles.

"Can you pick me up?" He pouted. I bent down and lifted him to my hip so he could see, but he winced when I settled him,

"I'm sorry bud" I frowned and moved him to where his back was against my chest and my arm was under his legs,

"I want a turtle" Landyn leaned his head back,

"Yeah? Well when we get back, if Mommy says it's okay, I'll get you a turtle" I kissed his head. He smiled and giggled, the first one I've heard in two days, "Alright let's get going"

I pulled up to Roy's place and got Landyn out before grabbing Duke and the stuff Duke needed. Landyn carried Duke for me and knocked on Roy's door,

"Hey!" Roy grinned and let us step in. Landyn put Duke down and followed me through Roy's house to put Duke's stuff on the table,

"You must be Landyn" Roy knelt down and held his hand out,

"Yeah" Landyn shyly spoke and leaned into my legs,

"Well, I'm glad to finally meet you" Roy stood back up,

"Alright, we got to go. Thanks Roy" I hugged him before taking Landyn's hand. Landyn said bye to Duke and we got into the car.

I stopped and grabbed us lunch then pulled into the Best Buy parking lot, leaning back and unbuckling Landyn so he could climb in the front to eat,

"Why are we here?" He asked, taking his chicken nugget and drowning it in ketchup,

"To get your surprise" I laughed,

"Me and Uncle Mike come here to get him new games" Landyn sat back, "Am I getting a game?"

"Yes and something to play the game on" I smiled. He grinned and then ate faster.

We got out and I held Landyn's hand as we walked in. I led him to the Nintendo Switches. I figured he'd need something to do on the long plane rides and Mike gets a little irritated when Landyn asks to play his.

I flagged a worker and they walked over to where Landyn and I were looking at the devices in the glass,

"Hey, how can I help you all?" The worker smiled,

"Can you get one of those out?" I questioned. The man nodded and opened the glass and grabbed one. Landyn started grinning and jumping up and down next to me,

"Is this for you?" The worker turned to Landyn. Landyn nodded and the guy stood and looked at me,

"Are you wanting a case for it?" He laughed,

"Oh yeah," I laughed back.

Landyn picked out a black case and the worker took it and the Switch to the desk while Landyn and I looked at games,

"You can pick a few out" I nudged him. He nodded and let go of my hand and looked at every option, occasionally asking me what they were since he obviously can't read yet. We ended up with a Cars 3 game, a Paw Patrol game, and an Avengers game.

We checked out and got back in the car. Landyn held the Best Buy bag in his lap the whole way back to Maddie's. I know Maddie's about to kill me for buying that for him, but I wanted him to have something like it,

"Will you help me get it on?" Landyn asked,

"Of course" I smiled and turned the music up, Mitchy's voice coming through as Broken by Lovelytheband came on.

I opened Maddie's apartment door and let Landyn walk in front of me. He walked straight to the couch and started pulling everything out of the Best Buy bag. I laughed and started walking towards Maddie's room,

"Maddie?" I called out when I didn't see her but saw both hers and Landyn's luggage on the bed,

"Hey" I spun when Maddie came out of her bathroom with hers and Landyn's toiletries. She laid them on the bed then wrapped her arms around my middle,

"How'd it go?" I pecked her lips as she looked up,

"Fine. Basically, if either of them goes anywhere near Landyn they spend life in jail. Now Mrs. Julia is going to jail but only for 10 years" she laid her head back against my chest,

"That's still good. They can't bother you all" I hugged her then she pulled back,

"How was Landyn?" She asked moving to put their stuff on the suitcases,

"He was fine. Quiet but he seemed okay" I took a seat, "We may have also kinda gone to Best Buy and I may have kinda bought him something"

Maddie's eyes went to me,

"How much was it? I'll give you money"

"Don't. I got it. I was the one who actually told him I was buying it for him" I stopped her,

"What did you buy him?" She sighed,

"A Nintendo Switch and some games"

I was not expecting Maddie to push me,

"Calum! You don't have to buy him expensive things" she groaned,

"I wanted to Maddie" I assured her. She sighed then went back to packing,

"Well thank you. You didn't have to"

After dinner, we set up Landyn's Switch and then settled in for a movie, the three of us falling asleep quickly and all cuddled on the couch, dreading the early morning we had ahead of us.
