Chapter 42

Shuanghui POV

I messaged the number that was left on the note a time and place to meet, I was sat on my bike waiting watching as the clock slowly ticked to midnight, I was suppose to be getting Mengrui from this one, but knowing them they won't hand him over unless they know they got what the want, so when they pulled Dianfa out the car it wasn't a surprise to me "I said the other one" I commented, scanning over the injuries on the kid they had in front of him like a shield despite the boys struggle to get free

the man smirked, the boy had a split lip, a bruised eye and and jaw "as if we'd give you the one you asked for, give us the money and you can have this one, once the money is checked and counted we'll release and send the other home free, if not he'll be dead" I knew this guy from somewhere but he looks older so I'm not sure if it really is him.

"why is he injured?" I asked, clenching my fist slightly around the straps of the bag hoping they hadn't laid a hand on Mengrui

"self defence" the guy said a snicker in his voice as he spoke

sighing i threw the bag over and gestured for the kid "hand him over there's your stupid money, I want the other one in an hour so you better hurry and count it, I watched as they continued to use the kid as a shield up until he reached the bag not releasing Mengrui's friend till he had it in his grips pushing the boy forward as he started stepping back towards the car "go to my bike" I whispered to him as he got closer arms still tied behind him

"they have guns" he whispered back, "the three standing do" I'm amazed at how calm he is in this situation, once he was close enough I nodded and had Dianfa behind me the second 3 of the 4 guys went down, the 4th started shooting towards me and Dianfa as I kept him shielded and they where all down gritting my teeth in the pain as one of the bullets had hit my shoulder "sorry commander Li" I heard over the intercom "did that hit you?" the concerned voice of the kid I had with me.

"nothing I can't handle" I muttered waiting for the sniper and his group to get over here after cutting the ties on Dianfa's wrists "go with them so I can get Mengrui" I spoke gesturing to the men that had drove up next to us

"WHAT! No way! I'm coming with you, I been with him and protected him since we where kids, I'm not leaving without knowing he's coming home to!" I frowned at him as his concern for me had completely wiped from his emotions and it was soon filled with rage and determination

frowning I sighed "fine, get on the bike, you guys go meet at their hide out, you got the location?" once they nodded I got on my bike with Dianfa and drove the way to the hide out as fast I could

"did that hurt" clearly going back to the injury I had, I didn't respond "fine I get it you wanna act like the big hard guy that doesn't feel anything I'll leave it alone for now" the rest of the ride was quite as we pulled up to what would seem like some run down industrial building.

although I could tell some of it was clearly ambushed by Kuanwo and the others I waited for the rest of the group before I joined in, Dianfa was growing impatient on the back of the bike "when are we going in" just as he said that someone came running out the front, I got off but Dianfa was faster and had the guy on the floor by the time I got to him "this was one of the guys that had us" he said looking up at me "not so tough on his own" he smirked looking up at me

I grinned slightly and did one more thing as the cars came driving up I broke the mans legs to stop him from running, Dianfa face looked mortified and shocked at the fact I easily did something like that "let's get Mengrui" I mumbled cutting the shocked expression from him as he headed towards the building the group catching up to me "don't let anyone touch the kid" I said with a frown and so they had rushed ahead to make sure they got in first and me and Dianfa was surrounded by the group to insure our safety.

There was a lot of people on the floor and one of the people in the group I met with Tang was there I crouched in front of him as he breathed heavily a gunshot wound to the stomach "I'm fine commander Li, go help Commander Wu he's on the top floor a bunch of people ran up there at a yell" he grunted out, nodding I left someone with him and continued on my way, noting the concerned look on Dianfa's face as I rushed up the stairs, he seemed to easily keep up as I rushed up the three flights of stairs to where there seemed to be a large crowed trying to gather into the one room "clear it" I called and the group I brought rushed forward as I held Dianfa back from trying to join in on saving his friend "we need to wait, Mengrui wouldn't want you getting hurt" he stared at me as I watched the group take the people down, emotionless expression on my face, when they had cleared the way I moved ahead and into the room Mengrui was in the corner with Tang crouched beside him, "gege!" me and Dianfa both said rushing over to the two as they looked up towards us both, 

Kuanwo stood up and hugged me and I hugged him back trying my hardest not to wince from the pain but he clearly noticed as he stepped back  "you're hurt" he stated rather then questioned and Mengrui looked over from his words and I rolled my eyes "don't you dare tell me it's nothing what happened"

I opened my mouth to argue back that it really was nothing when I was cut off "he got shot protecting me" my head shot to Dianfa with a glare only to whine out when Kuanwo hit my shoulder "ow!" Kuanwo let out a scoff as he walked away from me and I looked at Mengrui relieved that he wasn't injured "lets get out of here" I mumbled taking Mengrui's hand leading him out of the room with Dianfa following us "I shouldn't have left you alone" I mumbled as we left the building.

he frowned and squeezed my hand standing beside me "it's not your fault Shuanghui, it's not like you planned for me to be  kidnapped, and you saved me that's what is important, I'm not hurt and it's not your fault that this happened" linking our fingers I took a deep breath and nodded, giving him a soft smile "you don't believe me, do you?" I sighed and looked at him "I'll try, but I have a habit of blaming myself for things out of my control" I answered back just as we got outside

The man that had ran out before was crying his eyes out as Kuanwo had a tight grip on the mans shirt staring him dead in the eye "who's behind all this" he spat with anger, he looked beat up and despite that he had the guy palled up by his collar almost shaking the lights out of the guy wanting a response "who the fuck is behind all the you better answer me before I change my mind how your death happens" the guy surely looked terrified and I had never seen Kuanwo look so mad at someone before, I couldn't help but flinch as Mangrui pulled at my blood covered top ignoring Kuanwo little outburst on the only survivor that almost escaped, I listened as he grew in rage and punched the guy that was refusing, so I turned my attention to my concerned husband.

"you're really hurt" he stated more then asked and I just stroked his cheek with my good arm "don't touch me, you need to get this checked, rolling my eyes I chuckled and pulled his head up so I could kiss the concerned look off his face which worked because he was soon blushing mumbling as he turned away

"let's get going" I said letting Kuanwo continue to punch the man that was refusing to answer, I'd have to ask him what got him so worked up later while passing the helmet to my Xiao Rui as he stayed by my side "can you take Dianfa home" I said towards Kaunwo who holted his punching to look at me as he gave one stern nod before continuing his assualt on the man that was now barely breathing, "will it make you feel better if I head to the hospital?" when Mengrui nodded I drove off with his arms wrapped around me leaning more onto the side that hadn't been shot
