CHAPTER 01: FIRST ASSIGNMENT AS PARTNERS

"Slayin', wiling, livin' in up to the city~" I sang together with the music.

I put my police uniform while eyeing myself in the floor length mirror. I wore my necklace that has a pendant of a diamond ring then I hid it inside my uniform.

I'm too hot. (Hot damn.)
Call the police and the firemen.

When I'm done putting my uniform, I went to music player and turned it off. I went outside and get in my car driving professionally while smiling so bright.

Many cops are saluting me when I arrived at the Police Station. I smile and salute them back.

"Good morning, Chief!" I greeted with salute when I entered to his office. He salute back, so I put down my hand.

"Here's the case file for your first mission with your partner."

Tumingin ako sa case file na inabot niya saka kumunot ang noo ko at ibinalik ko ang tingin ko sa kaniya. "Partner?" I repeat. Confusion is visible on my face.

"Didn't I tell you before that you're going to have a partner?" he asks. The wrinkles on his forehead are more visible when he twitched.

"Nope," I shake my head. Nasa late 50s pa lang si Chief Lee, pero ang ulyanin na niya.

"I see. Oh, perfect timing."

Lumingon ako sa likod nang biglang lumiwanag ang mukha ni Chief. Natigilan ako at agad na sumaludo nang makita ko kung sino 'to. Walang emosyon niya 'kong sinaluduhan saka lumapit kay Chief.

"Captain Mareux Corwin Tuazon this is Lieutenant Zwei Vater Galvez, your partner for solving criminal cases," he introduced.

He's going to be my partner?! Oh, no.

"Okay," he just said then took the case file and leave the room without turning back.

Hindi ko mapigilang suminghal nang tuluyan na siyang lumabas. "Chief, seryoso ka? Siya ang magiging partner ko?" atungal ko sa kaniya. "Ang tahimik non—"

"—at mabunganga ka," dugtong niya. Nginiwian ko siya. "Oh, siya. Lumabas ka na't sundan mo ang kapareha mo kung ayaw mong masungitan ng batang 'yon."

Wala akong magawa kun'di ang lumabas ng opisina niya. I saw Captain Tuazon lean on the side of the car with his ussual face—dull.

When he saw me, he stood up straight. "What's the level of your driving skill?" he asked.

"Good," I answered. Binato niya sa 'kin ang susi ng kotse, agad ko naman itong nasalo.

Pwede namang iabot, eh. Tss.

Pumasok na siya sa loob kaya pumasok na rin ako.

"Where are we going anyway?" tanong ko habang nagda-drive. Walang sumagot.

Lumingon ako sa kaniya. Nakapikit ito habang nakakrus ang mga braso niya sa dibdib at nakadekwatrong pambabae.

Inis kong inabot 'yong case file na nakapatong sa dashboard at binasa ito, pero tumitingin pa rin ako sa daan.

Tss. We're going to babysit.

Nang makarating kami sa airport ay saktong dating ng taong inaasahin namin.

"Let me take your luggage, sir," nakangiti kong sabi, pero parang hindi niya narinig dahil nanatili lang siyang nakatingin sa 'kin. "Sir?" ulit ko. Para naman siyang natauhan do'n.
