a melancholy ending

to a bitter romance novel

a string of broken promises

under the veil of a velvet smile

a love that brings tears to my eyes

is not a love at all

I would still die for you,

even to this day

I wish you wouldn't stay

go away, my love

I cannot bear this pain

please leave me be,

no matter how unseemly,

I don't want to see your face

it only brings me heartache

but it doesn't surprise me,

not even for one minute,

that you would show up anyway

to torment my existence

in the darkest of my dreams,

in the depths of my despair,

you would find me

and drag me down

to the depths of your heavenly hell,

burying me under the remains

of the love that you claimed was real

just leave me be,

don't bury me

just think of me sincerely

as a product of your obsession

and abandon your love for me

please.
