you don't know

how much I'd love you

if I am given the chance to

before I go

with nothing left in my trembling hands,

my soul is yours to take

I'll leave it in your hands

for as long as I am awake

don't be startled when I fall asleep

or if I shed a tear

I'll be loved in your arms

and you'll whisper in my ear

my sweet little nothings

and soft caresses disappear

I promise you I didn't know

I'd leave you alone here

cry for me, my darling

stay with me, my love

although I am departing,

your hand on mine fits like a glove

bring me to the place where we first met:

a field of buttercups

such a time you won't forget

when I was dancing in the sun

I saw you and I knew I was done

looking for the perfect one

but here you are,

now I'm gone

like the tear on your cheek,

washed away

like our perfect memory,

our first Valentine's Day
