You and the team had solved a case involving kids, which always hit you hard. You got home and kicked off your shoes, lying down on the couch. The room was silent, the only sounds being the soft patters of rain against the windows and the small voice in your mind, running through what you could've done differently.

A knock at the door pulled you out of your daze, and you slowly got up and answered the door. Emily was on the other side, greeting you with a soft smile.

"Hey, baby." She said, stepping inside. "How are you doing?"

You sighed, feeling the tears gather at the corners of your eyes. She took your hand and brought you back to the couch. She laid down on her back and signaled you over, telling you to lay on top of her.

You sniffled and gave a gentle smile, laying down on her and resting your head on her chest. She placed one hand on your lower back, the other stroking your hair. She tilted her head so she could look at your face.

"Do you wanna talk?"

You shook your head as a tear fell on Emily's shirt, staining the red fabric.

"Okay." She whispered, continuing to stroke your hair until you fell asleep.
