the stars finally cracked open the spine to
turn the pages of a young romance novel
read many times in yearning
the book had been sitting
opaque
sitting on the editors desk
until blurry eyes and
night skies solidified its perfection
publicationinside were
kissescold feet and flushed cheeks
dancing
hungry and
furious soft and
slow
hushed whispers of the future and
together a question mark hanging off
that weighted worduntil the morning after
the constellations had faded
and she slammed the cover shut
the novel wasn't a new york times bestseller
no longer something she wanted
and so
she unstarred her review
