01. Toy Issues

Mikasa's POV

The sea. It looks so beautiful. So peaceful. The vibe it gives off. It's so perfect for-

"I'm afraid I am disturbing your little slumber right there, Miss Ackerman." Miss Hange said strictly.

"Oh, I'm-I'm sorry." I stuttered. Now that is some bad shit. I thought I was at a real paradise but I was really in school. I can probably call it hell!

"Since Christmas Vacation is approaching, you have a very easy project on my subject! Isn't it fun?" Miss Hange shrieked in excitement while everyone complained.

"Shush!", everyone became quiet. "This is not just a project, but you will make children feel happy this Christmas!"

Miss Hange tapped her desk and toddlers suddenly filled the room.

"You will be the one to take care of them until the end of your Christmas Vacation. They are orphans who are taken care of at Angel Rose Orphanage." Miss Hange explained.

She paired us up, and I got paired with Eren. Armin sighed in disappointment when he got paired with Annie Leonhart. Annie seems good in taking care of herself, maybe she can take good care of children too.

-Class Dismissed-

A boy got assigned to Eren and I, his name is Akihiro and he looks amazingly identical with Eren. They could pass as real father and son.

If Akihiro is his name, then he would be Akihiro Jaeger. Or maybe Akihiro Ackerman? Silly, of course he would take the name of his 'father'.

Eren is the one who is carrying the two year old Akihiro. Eren is making weird sounds to make Akihiro laugh.

"Annie can never be a parent!" Armin blurted out while holding little Thasia's hand.

"Oi, Armin! I heard what you said." Annie suddenly appeared out of nowhere and held the opposite hand Armin is holding.

"I bet Thasia will be staying with me all vacation." Armin said.

"Don't worry, she'll be with me. Of course she should be." Annie opposed.

"I am not even sure if Thasia will be good with you. You don't even know how to take care of a baby!" Armin complained but Annie didn't listen to his rants.

I just listened to Armin and Annie's little fight. Eren was not even bothered by Armin's nags and Annie's answers to everything Armin says, he just played with Akihiro.

"I don't get it why would Miss Hange assign real babies to us? I thought we will be using fake babies? We are like, nineteen!" Eren finally talked.

"Eh, I don't know too. But maybe because fake babies doesn't require much effort. They don't move at all." Armin answered.

"Makes sense." I said.

"Mom would be surprised because I brought a baby home. But she would be happy too." Eren said out of nowhere. I was about to protest but I realized I am actually living with Eren's family.

-At Jaeger Residence-

Eren opened the door and Mrs. Jaeger came to welcome us.

"Eren! Why did you bring a little baby home?" Mrs. Jaeger looked immensely surprised when she saw little Akihiro sleeping on Eren's shoulder. Eren doesn't want to disturb his sleep so he did a little hand sign to me.

"Oh, Miss Hange assigned babies for us to take care this Christmas Vacation. I got paired with Eren and Akihiro was assigned to us." I explained everything to Mrs. Jaeger.

I put Eren's and my backpack on our room and fixed the bed for Akihiro to sleep in. When I came out of the bedroom, I saw Eren sitting on the sofa still cuddling with sleeping Akihiro.

"Eren put Akihiro to bed." I said, so he did.

"Shouldn't we be out buying baby stuffs?" I suggested.

"Okay. I'll handle it. I earned enough." He smiled.

"No, we'll split the bill. Half-half." I said.

"Mom, Mikasa and I will be out buying things for Akihiro." Eren asked for permission.

"Okay, Eren. Take care of Mikasa okay? Oh and by the way, don't bother buying clothes for Akihiro, I still have your old baby clothes." Mrs. Jaeger said and Eren nodded.

-At the Baby Store-

Annie was surprisingly at the baby store buying things for Baby Thasia. I smiled at her and she just nodded back.

"Let's buy a lot lot lot lot lot of toys for Akihiro. Toy train, cars and trucks." Eren said excitedly.

"Eren, Akihiro would surely play with people not toys. Plus, he would only be staying with us for weeks." I scolded him.

"You can't stop me." He said and put toys at the basket before even putting milk and other important things little Hiro needs.

"Eren, put more necessary things rather than putting toys. Hiro wouldn't be able to eat nor drink those." I said trying to be practical.

We shopped for milk, bibs, and even bought a stroller and a baby carrier. I found those affordable ones.

When we got to the cashier, I turned completely pale.

"Seven hundred bucks?" Eren asked not believing in the statement.

"Yes, children. Seven hundred bucks." The cashier said so I pulled out three-fifty from my pocket and that's what Eren did too.

When we got out of the store, I slightly pinched Eren's waist.

"He'll play with it." He confidently said.

"Just make sure, Eren. We spent two-fifty on toys." I said trying to calm myself.

-Back at Jaeger Residence-

Akihiro played with Eren and I. Eren's face turned pale and scratched his nape.

"What did I tell you about toys again, Eren?" I asked him.

"I didn't know he prefers playing with people. And don't worry I'll play with the toys! I promise." He said like he's pleading for his life.

"Everyday, I want to see you playing with the toys you bought." I kept my emotionless face.
