03. Carla's A Baby Wizard

Mikasa's POV

After that breakfast, Mrs. Jaeger helped me bathe little and playful Akihiro. She told me that bathing him would be too hard for me so I accepted her help.

"Eren used to be this small when he was a kid. He would always splash water at me while playing with his favorite rubber ducks." Mrs. Jaeger suddenly reminisced, I just smiled.

When we were done bathing Akihiro, I got Eren's old baby clothes to make him wear. But first, I put diapers on Akihiro. The clothes are well-taken care of, so it still looks brand new.

It's a green shirt, and black pajamas. I told Eren to take care of Akihiro so he took Hiro from Mrs. Jaeger and played with him, while I take a bath.

I stripped my clothes off, and went inside the shower. I felt the warm water softly gliding through my skin, giving me a feeling of serenity.

Eren's POV

Mom wanted to take care of Akihiro but I insisted I do it instead. But I guess, my Mom is indeed such a baby wizard.

Akihiro suddenly cried without any reason. He just cried in my arms when I didn't even do anything to make him feel sad. I tried to stop him from crying but it just doesn't work.

"Oi, shh. Akihiro, stop crying please." I panicked.

"Eren, give the baby to your Mom." Dad said so Mom happily took Akihiro from me and rocked him in her arms singing her familiar lullaby.

Lucky, Mikasa she doesn't get to experience the panic I had earlier! She's still in the shower? But she has been there for like thirty minutes!

I was shocked to see Hiro slowly falling asleep in Mom's arms. How the hell did she make him stop? Is that some kind of sorcery? Magic? Spell? I don't know.

"How?" I whispered to myself. Dad saw the confusion in my face and smirked at me.

I went to the bedroom where Mikasa, Akihiro, and I sleep in. I decided to take a bath after Mikasa. While I was getting clothes from my dresser, the bathroom door opened.

"Eren..", Mikasa said with shock in her eyes. She is only wearing a towel wrapped in her body.

"Oh shit. Uhm, I was gonna take a bath after you—," I covered my eyes and left the room not continuing what I was gonna say.

Later on, I decided to enter the bedroom once again, only to face Mikasa who is going out of the room.

"Uhh, hey uhm, I..", Fuck, I can't construct a single sentence.

"Yeah, it's your turn." She calmly said and completely left the room.

Mikasa's POV

I am so shocked to see Eren at the room. I thought he was taking care of Aki? Why is he inside the room?

I dressed up not letting the thoughts bother me. I wore a simple black v-neck shirt and sweatpants. I have to be comfortable when taking care of a child as energetic as Aki.

I opened the door and saw Eren in front of me.

"Uhh, hey uhm, I..", he stuttered.

"Yeah, it's your turn." I said and noticed his ears glow red. It means he is embarrassed of something, so I just left.

Akihiro is sleeping in Mrs. Jaeger's arms while Dr. Jaeger is still sipping his coffee. I sat beside Mrs. Jaeger and observed a sleeping Akihiro. His mouth is slightly open so I can tell he is having a deep, deep, deep slumber.

"Mikasa, please get some pillow for Akihiro. I am getting kind of numb." Mrs. Jaeger said and I obliged. I went to the bedroom and and picked up a pillow. I got it with full speed so I can't have an encounter with Eren like that again.

I put it on the sofa and Mrs. Jaeger slowly put Akihiro down.

"I am just gonna do the laundry." -Mrs. Jaeger

I nodded and smiled.

I held Akihiro's small hand and my heart started to leap.

"I'm afraid I would be too attached to you to be able to give you back to the orphanage. I promise, if I graduate and you're still not adopted, I would be the one to take you in." I whispered and smiled, still watching him smile.

"Mikasa, are you getting offers for scholarship? You're an athlete right?" Dr. Jaeger asked.

"Yes, Dr. Jaeger. I actually accepted it and next year I would not have to lend money for my tuition." The Jaeger couple is too kind to me. They gave me shelter, they treated me as their own daughter, and they pay my tuition. Once I get a job, I will work hard and the first pay I get, I will use that to treat them into a fancy restaurant.

"That's great. I am so proud of you." Dr. Jaeger said.

"Thank you." I smiled at him.

-Time Skip-

In just four days, it will be Christmas and everyone is getting ready. The Jaeger house is full of decorations and Akihiro loves them so much. He was always mesmerized and curious which made me smile.

While cleaning the ceiling I asked Eren to hold the ladder because Akihiro was too busy running around and I'm afraid that I might fall and hit Akihiro.

"Oi, Eren! Hold it tightly! It's shaking." I said nervously.

"I am! Akihiro is just always running he just wouldn't get tired!" Eren annoyingly answered.

"It's not Aki's fault. Hold it tightly so your biceps would be at use. Since you are always a lazy rat." I joked.

"Hey, I always take care of Aki so we both take credit at the grades." He answered, I looked at him and saw him frowning.

Akihiro kept on running around which made the ladder sway. Eren stopped holding the ladder and scolded Aki. I felt the ladder shaking or perhaps they were my legs. And I fell out of balance, just to fall at Eren.

I am holding his arms while his hands are at my waist. We were both looking intently at each other. I felt butterflies in my stomach for strange reasons. Hell, I think I just felt myself blush.

"Nice biceps."

"N-Nice waist!"

We both awkwardly complimented each other. For a minute, I thought to myself, it's happening. But hell, we are bestfriends.

I removed the thoughts from my head and stood up, carrying Akihiro to the room.
