-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Being kidnapped and thrown into the back of a van had not been your plans for the day when you woke up yesterday. And though it seemed nothing could top that, the universe threw yet another curveball at you. Wrapped up in both the grasp of soft silk sheets and the arms of your deepest fear, you found that this was not how you thought your life would be going by now.

By now, you had hoped that you would have your degree in y/c, Jason cheering proudly and loudly at your graduation. You had hoped to be able to always take that trip the two of you had talked about over cola and candy so many nights. Maybe even to have Jason. As yours.

The idea brought tears to your eyes. How had your life taken so many wrong turns so quickly? Why has the universe been hell-bent on making sure that any fantasy you've ever had died? All your hopes and dreams and plans burned up quicker than a thin piece of paper in a roaring house fire.

You hadn't noticed that tears escaped your eyes until you felt the large, but gentle hand of your captor softly remove the wetness from your cheeks. "An angel so beautiful as you deserves not to cry. What dares to enter the domain of the beast, and upset his beauty?" You scoffed at his blatant disregard of your current situation. Shoving his hand from your face, you aptly untangled yourself from his entanglement and padded angrily to the patio.

Of course. The door was locked.

"Do you mind?"

"Although I quite enjoy the sight of my bare beauty, I will not allow another to lay his eyes on you in such a vulnerable state. It is locked for a reason, sweetheart."

Shocked, you glanced down to find that you were in fact, bare. "Wha-- When did you undress me?!" Angered beyond belief, it seemed as though even the sun cowered from behind the clouds. Almost as if he hadn't heard you, Jason began to dress. Luckily he managed to retain his pants. At least there was hope that nothing had happened between the two of you. His brows furrowed as he swiftly pulled on a shirt and then wandered into the large closet.

Jason returned a few short moments later with presumably one of his large shirts, confusion coloring his face. "What d'you mean? I didn't undress you beauty. You did that yourself, although I suspect the roofies and sedatives had a little to do with it," "You drugged me!" Screeching didn't help your headache. But damn if seeing him wince didn't make you feel better.

"I had to get you to calm down. You acted as though I had set fire to myself and ran about like a crazy person." Mumbling a small 'if only', you elected to instead ignore Jason. Maybe if you made it clear that you had no interest he would simply let you go. That's how that normally works, right? Who were you kidding. Jason would never let you go after spending so long looking for you.

Silently, you approached him and gently took the plain white t-shirt from his outstretched hand. Quickly sliding the shirt over your figure, you snuggled into the material. The cotton was warm and soft. It smelled of Jason's natural scent, a mixture of cigarettes, gun smoke, and the expensive liquor he downed quite constantly. You looked up to see Jason watching you with an unreadable expression. His green eyes shone in the early morning light, a notable fire burning within him.

Padding softly up to him, you wrapped your arms around his lower waist and fell into the arms of your best friend. An embrace you had dearly missed. "Thank you."

You had expected Jason to find you again at some point. You knew that you couldn't hide from him forever.  You had expected that it might be hard to hate him with how close the two of you had previously been before he lost his damn mind. What you didn't expect was to start falling in love with him. In all the books you had read and all the movies and shows you'd watched, it always seemed inevitable that the lead fall in love with the stubborn, asshole opposite. Still, it never even crossed your mind that you might find yourself in a similarly precarious situation.

You were yanked out of your thoughts by a knock on the door. "Miss? My name is Lola, and Master Jason has requested that you put on this dress and join him for dinner." The sound of Jason's name slipping through the lips of an undoubtedly beautiful female flared something inside of you. A pile of rocks settled into the pit of your stomach. However, you glided softly over to the door and turned the lock, gently taking the dress from her. She was very beautiful.

As was the dress.

A soft, velvet material, the dress was a deep burgundy and flowed to your mid-calf. Jason certainly knew how to pick a dress. When the material had been pulled over your head, and the wrinkles smoothed, the dress fit you beautiful, managing to be slimming and form filling at the same time. After you had shaken from the daze the dress had so graciously provided, you followed Lola down to a magnificent dining room.

Only now had you noticed the sheer size of everything in this house, if you could even call it that. Judging by the lack of car horns, screams, and gunshots, you were positive you were no longer in Gotham City. "Lola, where are we?" Startled by the first words you had spoken to her all evening, Lola quickly finished her task of setting the table. "Oh, well, Miss we're in-" "That'll be all for tonight Lola. I think we can manage from here." Jason appeared suddenly in the door way. His black suit fit his body perfectly, stunningly paired with a burgundy red that you suspected was an exact match to your dress.

You felt the rocks settle once more as Jason allowed her name to flow from his mouth, covered in the deep rumble of his voice, and then again as Lola smiled sweetly at him before managing to slip quietly and gracefully from the room, a feat you could only ever dream of being able to accomplish. Jason stared at you, studying the way the dress fit your figure. His eyes darted up and down, all over your form. When his gaze settled on your face, his head cocked sideways.

Maybe it was his experience with people, being raised by a master detective, or just having known you for as long as you could remember, but he was easily able to read you like an open book. "There's no need to be jealous of Lola. Or anyone for that matter. It stands true that in every woman I've seen, nobody, not one compares to you. You are breath-taking, and you hypnotize me. In every way possible, every part of me is yours. Just as I know one day, you'll be mine."

-----------------------------------------------------

Dinner went rather smoothly. And you had to give it to Jason, he did in fact make you fall all the more in love with him. Suddenly, as you stood on the balcony, soaking up the cool California air, and the last bit of warmth from the setting sun, the fact that he had killed over a dozen people didn't matter. Life wasn't black and white, good and evil, and it shouldn't be. Jason's determination to have you as his became the most romantic thing that anyone had done for you. The least that you owed him was a chance. An opportunity to prove that he could be the great person, and the amazing partner that he had promised he would be.

After all, what could go wrong?
